'You saw that right? Dean Stockwell just licked a midget!'

the praise she gives dean stockwell in the introduction has stuck in mind connected to his name while i've still only seen him in a few movies often smaller parts or tv episodes. i just watched the gila monster in the movie macabre's giant monsters dvd set, there's so much miniature prop going on there they get so used to zooming in things like notice the railway. a reoccurring thing watching old movies is how often regular people are being called "dad". funny this gila monster flick was also featured in elvira's midnight madness series. there is a gag in it (what happens to the animals she's watching or "pet-sitting" as the dvd says) that was repeated in a recent episode of "family guy", i wonder if it's possible some inspiration came from here. i always preferred the gila monster over the other movie on the same disc "attack of the giant leeches" in the giant monsters set, though elvira's always great, as playing a gap toothed redneck with hat and straw, that other movie was just too creepy, this is good fun with some unexpected good music bits with great roles and this zoomed in monster wouldn't scare anyone unless it was crawling on the home floor, the dean stockwell feature is great fun too, and also a part of the 1980's movie macabre dvd's, i have a tradition of watching that movie around election times.
