Wish she'd...

watch better movies on her show. I think Elvira is cool as hell, and I'd like to hear her talk about more entertaining movies. I realize maybe this her thing to watch old movies available in the public domain, but my god! The movies are so awful I can't stand watching them. I end up DVR'ing Movie Macabre and fast forwarding to her host segments and skipping the crappy movies.

"No earlier than '95"?! I hate to disagree, but there's been virtually no originality whatsoever in horror in the past 16 years -- the late '70s through the end of the '80s was really the heyday of horror (not counting the golden age of films like "Dracula," "Frankenstein," etc.), and many of those '70s-'80s films still hold up just as well, if not better, than anything from the mid-'90s and start of this century (when crappy CGI started seeping into everything). It would also make much more sense for Elvira to be showing films from that era, since that's when she hit the scene.

The problem with the films she's showing isn't so much the era, it's the films themselves. Nobody bothered to renew the copyrights on the films, so they've lapsed into public domain. And it's not hard to see WHY nobody forked over money to get the rights renewed. A few are charming in their stupidity ("Eegah," "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians") but most of 'em are just tedious and moronic.

I'm 33, I've got two nephews and a niece (the youngest is now 16) that I raised on horror movies, and they're just as apt to watch "The Beast with Five Fingers," "Psycho" or "Spider Baby" as the newest remake/ripoff of whatever. A good movie is a good movie regardless of the era when it was made. Elvira's just showing bottom-of-the-barrel flicks, in part because they're free and in part because those are the films she grew up watching.

Yeah, it doesn't matter when a movie is made as long as it's good. The movies she shows aren't even "so bad they're good" they're just awful. Love Elvira though! I'd like to see better movies on her program so I don't have to fast forward through the movie to get to her host segments like I've been doing.

True, watched Teenagers from Space last night, only reason I stayed with it was to see more Elvira, she was worth it though.

HUH?!! Oh, please...horror films from the 90's and the 2000's pretty much suck and lack anything resembling originality. The 50's-80's horror films (especially the cheesy ones) are totally suited for a hot, goth-looking chick like Elvira. She's known for her corniness (and her amazing cleavage) and these films, as awful as most might think, are perfect. Perhaps she could up the films quality a bit, but the corny horror flicks work either way.

If you want great horror films, then go rent them. If you want to see Elvira host, you better get used to the low-budget horror films. Oh, and you don't have to be over 50 to enjoy the classic films. That's just dumb to generalize. I'm far from 50 and I get a kick out of them, just like watching MST3K.

I would have no interest whatsover in more recent horror films. The genre of horror movies from the 50s and 60s have much more of a campy feel and quality to them, and are ideally suited for the Movie Macabre format. Keep em' comin Elvira!
