Can someone help explain this? [spoilers]

I understand the ending and all of its intricacies, however I noticed something as I watched a friend play through the game.

Early in the game at Battleship Bay after you find Elizabeth, there is a mysterious woman that notices Elizabeth and calls her out as Anna (or Annabelle or something). Elizabeth is confused and says that the woman must be mistaking her for someone else. Having realized at the end that Elizabeth is actually Anna DeWitt, how can that character recognize her as Anna if Comstock in that reality was sterile? He couldn't have produced an Anna of his own in that reality, which is why he needed to steal the Anna in an alternate dimension. So there's really no way that she could have known Anna as far as I can tell.

Any one have any ideas?

Remember, there was an ambush moments later. The mysterious woman (Esther) was aware of this as she was an undercover cop and wanted to confirm that Elizabeth was really Elizabeth so they could take her away and kill off Booker. Why she specifically chose to call her Anna is left up to you, but I reckon Comstock told her to say it. He probably thought that it would unsettle and distract Booker.

And of course, it also alludes to the ending.

She calls her Annabel. It was most likely a randomly chosen name to get Elizabeth to see her real name, with little value otherwise. You could also choose to believe that Comstock slipped "Anna" in to see if either Elizabeth or Booker would react to a memory from the original timeline, but that's less plausible.
