Asylum question (Spoilers probably)

so when Booker went to the Asylum to get Elizabeth, was it supposed to be in the 80s or just the part when the elderly Elizabeth was showing him the Columbia-New York war?

also as a side note, i kinda wish the asylum section of the game would have been a bit longer. the style and imagery really reminded me of the first BioShock game with the creepy horror element.

I believe it takes place in the 80's. There is a billboard for a car that says "1984".

Yeah it took place in the 80s, an alternate universe where Elizabeth becomes the prophet that Comstock fortold about, fufilling her birthright. "The seed of the prophet shall sit the throne and drown in flames the mountains of men".
