This is DENINANTLY NOT BioShock 3

This is a totally different BioShock, with a totatally different plot outline to the BioShock universe.

Bioshock 3 would be in Rapture.

This is a very unique franchise so I get that it's not for everyone, but if you didn't like the first two, why would you bother playing the third? Just seems silly to me.

You either get canceled a good TV show or you air long enough to see yourself jump the shark.

Like I posted in another thread: There are so many parallels between Bioshock and Infinite that calling it not a "true" Bioshock game is borderline silly.

Without giving away any spoilers:

- The gameplay is very similar (guns + plasmids).
- Locations are very similar (highly "improbable" cities featuring quasi steam-punk futuristic tech.
- Both player characters have a special kind of relation with female characters who have unusual powers and mechanical/mechanized protectors.
- Even though their philosophies are very different, the main antagonists are pretty similar.
- In both stories and female scientist and her research are instrumental in making the cities and their technology a reality.
- Unique look/design. While Rapture is all Art Deco and Columbia looks more like a late Victorian designer's wet dream, the visual style of both games is very similar.
- Story: Both games deal with father/daughter relationships. Both deal with questions like free will vs. predetermination. Both feature some sort of class struggle in their respective utopias, with the "liberators" being just as evil as the elite they're fighting.
- Both are way too short, extremely heavy on story and a bit light on actual gameplay (IMO).

BTW: I completely agree with Irrational's decision to *not* set this game in Rapture again. Going back there for a third time would've been pretty unimaginative, IMO.

Now we just need SHODAN and the Many to return for System Shock 3.

to me, it's kind of a cover of BioShock much like how an artist or band would cover a classic song.

I prefer to think this is the sequel to Bioshock and that 2 never happened. 2 was incredibly boring.

It's very much a part of the Bioshock universe actually. Play to the end and you'll see. Not going to spoil it on here for everyone though!
