Trying to get the PS3 version but have to know…

Is it really so, that the PS version is MUCH weaker (has less detail and is more bound to the drop of FPS) than the PC one? To pay such a neat amount of money for a half-assed product does not look like a good deal.

Do you have any experience in playing both versions? What is your verdict regarding the PS3 game?

And one more question: is there an option for the PS3 game to turn on the English subs?

Thanks

There are many graphics comparisons you can find on the internet, try to stick to picture comparisons rather than youtube vids because they aren't high resolution enough to capture the true difference. But in short, yes any game you are going to find on the market today will look MUCH better on a decent gaming PC than it ever will on console. Both PS3 and Xbox 360 have 9 year old hardware that simply cannot keep up with modern graphics cards. Even the next-gen consoles will be less powerful than a mid-high range gaming PC at this point. Look at it this way: if you get the game on PS3, you pay the same or more for the game, but that still is partially to make up for the subsidy on your console that you originally got when it was new. So it's not like you get ripped off by getting a console game, but that their graphics do not keep up with PC's is a fact of life at this point.

It's one of the nicest PS3 games I've played...but that being said, of course it won't compare to the PC version. I'd say stick with PC if you're more of a PC gamer...but if you want to check out the PS3 version of Infinite, by all means do so as I've had a pretty awesome time playing through the game. I'd easily consider this game to be one of the best purchases I've made for my PS3.

To answer your other question...I think there is an option to turn on the English subs for the game.

Do graphics really matter? I got it on PS3 and the game was amazing for its story, even though the graphics looked amazing as well. I was surprised to find out it was running on the unreal 3 engine but it still looks just as amazing and crisp for a game coming out in 2013. You shouldnt base your decision to get a game just cause of graphics. Although they do matter in this day and age, if you're a PC prick who cares about having the best graphics card in the world and playing a game that looks as real as what they see outside their window, then your defintion of gaming is completely flawed.

Sounds like some little console prick is angry he can't afford a decent PC and his mommy and daddy won't splurge for a decent graphics card

Hey I've got the ps3 version - I just completed it yesterday - and it's fine. There are some comparison videos (comparing ps3, PC and Xbox360) on youtube. If you're that worried about the details and drop in frame rate, I'd recommend you get the PC version. Both PF and ps3 versions are better than the Xbox version anyway.

Actually, bought the PS3 game a couple of days ago. And tried it. There are a few "tears of the screen" if you look around fast but that's not a big problem with me. Used to play "Mechwarrior", "Prince of Persia", "Descent" and "Wolfenstein 3D" back in the early 1990s. So, can appreciate simple graphics and good playability. And here it's a complicated pic and fine playability. Quality test passed.

Verdict: satisfactory.

My only complain so far is the subs. The font is too small. English is not my first language and this game requires advanced knowledge. Don't want to sit too close to the big TV too. And if you skip a few phrases... you know that you have missed something important.

By the way, is it possible to change the font size for the games on PS3? My "Mortal Kombat" PS3 title has got the same problem: the font size is tiny (though the dialogues are much more comprehensible than in “Bioshock”).

Thanks.

Sorry for the late reply but no you can't make the subtitles bigger, unfortunately. I thought they were a bit too small as well. Did you experience any audio/subtitle glitches? I did, especially audio glitches where there's sound but the character, w.g Elizabeth, their mouth wasn't moving. Kinda creepy.

reply

No sound glitches yet, dear "Scars_In_Heart", but there was some vague problem with the PS3 subs (they seemed to be unstable and flicker a bit). Anyhow, decided to get moving with the game without any on-screen text. The same with "Mortal Kombat" - turned them off for good, but that's another epic story...

The good thing is that these are very strong reasons to get better in English.

It's sometimes hard to hear the audio when two or more things are being said at once. E.g. Playing a voxaphone whilst Elizabeth iand booker are talking. Have fun finishing the game.

reply

The funny thing is that when the shootouts start, there is a need to turn the volume down (our neighbours can get real crazy because of extra noise), and when the characters talk (Booker-Elizabeth conversations), they usually make it in a whispering tone and quite a load of vital info has missed my ears already. It really spoils my enjoyment of the gameplay. Playing in headphones is out of question - it's only good for "Doom 3" and only in the dark hours AM in a closed room.

Hope they had included the feature to equalize the talking/shooting volume available. Especially on the grounds that this game is the most expensive in my collection so far.

reply

Yeah during soot outs with enemies the music does get pretty loud. I could barely hear Elizabeth when she called out to me (booker) and she found salts/health/ammo, etc. I was playing with the volume at almost 50. I don't wear headphones at all when I play, kind of bothersome when they need adjusting.
