Didn't fully understand the twist thus interpreted a different ending.

i didn't know after beating the game that cumstock was also booker but i made my own theory as to the story. Since we know the tears also effect with time i figured that Booker had a debt to cumstock, sold his daughter ana, tried to stop it, wreaked with guilt he drinks.

we learn that Booker's memories get screwed up when he travels from different realities so at one point booker interprets the debt memory as a gambling debt that mixed with his loss of his daughter making him believe that to wipe away the debt he needs to bring back elizabeth.

In the ending we learn that no matter what happens, it all comes to the same conclusion just different details so to stop it all booker kills himself during the baptism.

after hearing someone else talk about booker is cumstock i just thought. wait...what?!

still a great game though!

The letters "U" and "O" are far too close together on the keyboard...

I wondered the exact same thing and more. Seems like every version of himself spent a lot of time looking for "the girl." When he has the girl, he knows that he has to give her up, as well, to clear the debt, which for all I know could be borrowed time rather than Silver Eagles.
