Release date will be moved up to November

Mark my words... it's stupid to release a Christmas movie that late. Xmas practically begins directly after Halloween nowadays.

Why is it stupid?

**Financially stupid. They are missing out on weeks, if not a month or more, of ticket sales.

Well, there are some movies released in December that earned money.

reply

Christmas movies? Most of them have been released in November to maximize possible sales before they drop to nothing after 12/25.

I don't think so because they will want to avoid competition with Bad Santa 2.

You are right in that a November release would be more financially successful in general, but no matter what release date they'd choose in November, it'd be in direct competition with either Almost Christmas or Bad Santa 2, since those come out the second and fourth weekend of November. Also, with the very crowded November/December slate, there's no guarantee those other two will have very many, if any, showtimes come Christmas, depending on how big they are. Unless this utterly collapses, it's guaranteed to have a decent amount of showtimes for Christmas, which should give it a boost.
