Solid 7/10 - no idea why all the hate

Glad I didn't listen to all the naysayers. I really enjoyed this film.
Liked it more than Prometheus, in fact, although part of that may be because my expectations for Prometheus were so much higher.

Same here; I enjoyed this more than Prometheus. Very solid sci-fi film; I gave it an 8/10.

reply

Ditto to both of you AND it has the bonus of Tom Cullen (Lord Gillingham in the newest season of "Downton Abbey") in it! Didn't even recognize him until I IMDB'ed him.

reply

OK... even if you enjoyed it (hey, I also have a guilty pleasure with some of the old 60s rubber-suit-monster films from Godzilla to Gamera), but do you really not see any reason others may have been severely disappointed in this movie?

A movie which looks like it will be a decent SciFi movie then turns out to be nothing more than a zombie flick which gets all the science wrong?

It reminds me of those awful movies Syfy Channel was always parading as "originals"!

Liked it more than Prometheus...

I agree with you, but that's not saying much. Prometheus was a terrible movie.

reply

Agreed. I gave it a 7 as well. As for Prometheus, I was really disappointed with it the first time I watched it, but the second time I thought it was quite good after all. So I gave it a 7 too.

reply

The best explanation I've heard for Prometheus is that Ridley Scott made a dark comedy but forgot to let the audience in on the joke.

reply

I like them both. But I can see why someone expecting more than a zombie film set on Mars might be disappointed.

I don't expect zombie films to be scientifically accurate,

I haven't felt that way watching a movie since Eden Lake. You kind of hate it while you are watching it but can't look away. I think they achieved what they set out to do. Too bad it didn't get a better reception. I guess space zombies aren't for everyone.. Lol
