I don't mind looking at the past through the woke lens of the future. But it permeates all of the writing in an unrealistic and preachy manner. The show itself is woke instead of using wokery to show how far we have and haven't come as a society. Aside from that, I find the episodes in general to be written in a poor manner. Falling largely in to the notion of having to save key people in the past to unlock riddles in the future. It's focusing largely on the wrong stuff and the human interest element is a means to an end instead of the focus. And so the emotional payoffs rarely have impact. I'm not investing in these sad tales of human struggle because it's just a game of mousetrap. The original show is essentially Sam exploring the human condition. The scifi stuff is just to make it easier for people to swallow who don't like religion and angels.
