Should leaping hurt or at least exhaust you?

When they leap the first time, they have this 'swiss-cheese' brain effect and don't remember a lot of their actual life... but I would also add that when they keep leaping through time into each new individual the leaper should be -drained- would be interesting if the leaper's body went through an extreme chemical-physical reaction similar to a long work out session/or multiple orgasming... the leaper should be like super hungry - tired - drained of energy because of his molecules traveling through time and rearranging into someone else's body... but I guess it would get repetitive having this happen in every episode.

Well, I just watched that one episode in the older show where Sam ends up at a mental institution, taking on the personalities of the several people he's leaped into before. So yes, I'd say the leaping can have the effect of exhausting you, simply from all the traveling and the pain endured from the constant trips. There's hardly any breaks, it's a never ending journey. I'm not sciencey or anything, so I can't really talk in a factual way with that kind of knowledge, but that's what I know.

Yeah, good memory there... they even torture him or something like electroshock? The doctors think he has some sort of mental problem perhaps multiple personalities? (It's been over a decade since I last saw that episode).

If I recall correctly that was like the accumulation of several people Sam had leaped into to that point... I was referring like it should exhaust you every single time... like it would be a nice addition to the dangers of leaping... even though it would become boring seeing it take place every single episode.

Yes, it's the last episode of season 3 and starts off with Sam receiving electroshock therapy in an abusive, harsh manner. You remember it pretty well yourself since you recalled everything correctly I believe.

I think it's more shown than said that Sam is exhausted every time he leaps. Instead of Sam always saying "I'm tired," or "I'm too exhausted and in pain," we see his actions, simply by his breathing, his tone in voice, his emotions, his fear. His energy gets drained for sure, but he's also filled with adrenaline rush given the circumstances. He's gotta stay on the move. I mean each new episode starts with his famous "oh boy," he faces many dangerous threats, the unpredictability of where he'll go next, and of course he still has to sleep, eat, drink, and use the bathroom. Seems like you have to a certain personality for this kind of thing, and the genius that he is, he certainly has it.
