Location in episode "Changing Tides"

Close to the end of this episode, a man climbs upon a wall to jump. One of the cops called it Abbey Point. The man was surrounded by ruins that looked to be facing the sea, ruins that had the look of an old abbey. The location was so impressive that I tried to do a search, but couldn't find anything called Abbey Point in Northumberland. IMDB gives the filming location as "Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear, England, UK" and that the story takes place "on the Northumberland coast", but that hasn't helped me narrow down the location. Can someone please tell me where that scene was filmed? Thanks!

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.

Lots of place names on the show are made up. The location you're referring to is actually Tynemouth Priory.

I too would like to know what the real location called "Abbey Point" in the TV episode is. When I googled "Abbey Point" I got the correct pictures, which was hopeful, until I realised the images were posted by the TV producers. When you try to pin down the real name of these abbey ruins above the sea, all that comes up is Hexham Abbey - which of course is not correct as Hexham is inland.

Can anyone help identify this location?

Thanks for the information that "Abbey Point" in the programme is actually Tynemouth Priory in reality. And some of the more distance (castle-like) shots - purporting to be the same place in the programme - looked like they might have been Dunstanburgh Castle, just north of Howick.
