Hi, I'm a guy from the place where your emotionally traumatised step daughter saw her parents and brother violently die. I know she's totally repressed those memories, but would it be cool if she came out and checked out some totally unrelated child murder based ghost activity? It would? Terrific!

shareGood point; however, they may have thought she would not remember/recall those traumatic events and probably assumed nothing would come of it because a majority of people don't claim to believe in ghosts.
Or, look at it from the other side. If you had some traumatic stuff happen and had questions and doubts about events of your past, wouldn't you be MORE curious if people were trying to steer you AWAY from seeking answers? I can see how that would have only deepened her resolve to get in there and figure out what everybody is trying to prevent her from learning.

Maybe they didn't know? Didn't know about her past and not exactly happen. Or they didn't realize that the place was turned into a school. All they knew it was sold and the money went into her future assets. So hearing the name of the school meant nothijg to them?
