Why not just call it Philadelphia 2 or Angels in America 2?

The set up is basically the same as those films?

Basically because it was written a decade before both of them. Meanwhile, no...it's nothing like either. You might as well say, "Why not just call Star Wars 2001 or Forbidden Planet?"

Right? And every movie about WWII should be called Saving Private Ryan. Any movie set in space should be called Star Trek. Logic and critical thinking OP, use them.

I get a sense from the OP of "oh no, another film about gay people. I want more Vin Diesel flicks! Lacking that, more Dwayne Johnson."

Not really seeing the similarity, especially with Philadelphia.
But 2 movies this did remind me of were "Longtime companion" and "And the Band Played on"
Both of those were well done and so was this.
Philadelphia and Angels in America were well done as well. No problem here if anyone has the ambition to make a sequel to any of these.
