this movie was stupid

If u want to watch a movie about AIDS watch Philadelphia or the other HBO one And the Band Played On. Which is interesting, in that it shows how many mistakes were made at the beginning of the epidemic which made the whole thing so much worse than it had to be. But this movie is just silly. Like most people I can’t stand Julia Roberts and she is no better here. But more than that this whole movie is just way to over the top. Every scene is somebody screaming and yelling or throwing things or attacking somebody. In this scene Adam Ruffalo is gona throw his papers at that Ed Koch representative, in the next scene he is gonna throw milk and kale at his boyfriend while also screaming. Now that Bruce guy is gonna throw somebody camera out of a window. Now its Julia Roberts turn to yell and scream and throw her papers and be all melodramatic. I know it’s a horrible thing to go through but Jesus u think one of them would be able to keep their *beep* together . And do they really think screaming at these politics guys and attacking is going to make them want to help u. And Jim Parson, he just sucks and I get that he is trying to distance himself from Big Bang but all he did was play and even gayer version of Sheldon. And that scene in the hospital where Bruce can’t get a death certificate for his boyfriend, it seems I a tad unrealistic the people at the hospital would be that insensitive and then they throw his body in the back alley in a garbage bag. Again seems a bit unlikely if this guy died from this deadly contagious disease wouldn’t the doctors quarantine his body rather than toss his corpse out in the back alley. Again seems a tad odd. This whole movie is just goofy, it seems like the actors and actresses are reaching for emmys with both hands.

i told you not to stop the boat. Now lets go. Apocaylpse Now

You gotta understand that this actually based on a play, so you're in for some witty dialogue and a lot of screaming, which I do not believe that made any desservice for the story. On the contrary, every single performance sustained the plot, once you realize that it was a situation of calamity and despair for the (concerned with the matter) gay community.

As for Mark Ruffalo's performance, you could see that his character paid for his behaviour at the end, and in movies they tend to exaggerate things a little for the so-called dramatic purposes (otherwhise everyone would talk like real people do, which would be a little boring if you come to think of it). So I guess that explains all the lettuce throwing, hahaha.

I'm not gonna stand for Julia Roberts "the actress" because personally I don't think that she's a particularly amazing one like some people do, but I get the frustration and the impotence that her character had felt, so the same goes for her. She did what she could do with the scene despite having so limited acting skills.

Jim Parsons did not impressed me at all, but overall I think it was an irrelevant character anyway. There's too much of him in Sheldon I think, and this ends up being prejudicial to his acting. And in a way that explains the "gayer than Sheldon" thing you said, once you realize that he's gay in real life and probably was just playing himself in some moments.

That scene with Bruce Niles' boyfriend dead in the hospital and all that followed it sent chills down my spine. I think what touched me the most was the part when his own mother carries his body to the back of the car while crying the heck out of her at it. That was strong. And not unnecessary as I really don't doubt that some people would get rid of an HIV patient's body like that at the time.

If Julia has 'so limited acting skills', how did she become an A-list star, earning something like 12 million a picture?
