Gyms in early 80's

Lots of the gay guys were buffed up I noticed. Was the attitude back then, "Only gay guys go to the gym"? Im assuming the straight guy only went to the gym if he was an athlete or bodybuilder in those days?

The same types that go now then went. Rocky and Rambo were popular but jogging and cardio have been long go to choices for many.

Nah no way. Lots of guys were skinny back then. Your average Joe now is buff or in the stages of becoming buff. There were never as many gyms as there are now in cities.

This is very romanticized.... Men were skinny back then... This buff thing is more of a modern sensibility...

Look at Burt Reynolds rug picture... Freddy Mercury... Sean Cassidy... Harrison Ford as Han Solo... Men had a more natural slender build... It's always comical to me to see these muscle dudes in movies that are supposed to take place in the 70's/80's
