Hi everyone I'm just curious to know which is your favorite Jaeger from the movie?

For me it's definitely Gipsy Danger for several reasons:

1. It's piloted by our 2 leads Raleigh and Mako, I love them 

2. It's such a cool Jaeger with alot of great functions and her design is great, not too bulky but she was still equipped with enough weapons and functions, I especially love her sword and hand cannon weapons such as her plasma cannon and elbow rocket. And I like the fact that she was basically a walking nuclear reactor, so she was already a man-made powerful nuclear weapon in itself, so they did not need to strap a bomb on her, unlike they did with Striker Eureka. I also like the fact that unlike the other 3 main Jeagers featured in the movie which were digital, Gipsy was the only analogue Jaeger, so the energy blast from the Kaiju Leatherback would not affect her hence she was the only functioning Jaeger during the coastal siege battle with Otachi & Leatherback. I also like that huge nuclear reactor that looked like a cooling fan placed on her chest, I think it just adds to the coolness of Gipsy's overall design. I think her design has a great blend of both rustic and contemporary upgraded elements, IMO Gipsy is the coolest & the best Jeager overall in terms of both design and functionality.

3. Gipsy was the primary main Jaeger featured in the movie and the strongest (mainly because of Raleigh & Mako's great partnership and connection).

4. I like the fact that she's referred to as a "female", I think she's probably the only Jaeger among the 4 main ones that was referred to as a "female". I think Striker Eureka was a "male", not sure about Crimson Typhoon and Cherno Alpha though, but I think they're both probably "male" too.

Coming in second for me is Striker Eureka, I think it has a cool design with alot of cool weapons such as its chest cannons & its Swiss knives-style hands, and I like how they described Striker as the "fastest Jeager", I also like 1 of its pilots Herc Hansen (Chuck's dad), but I dislike Chuck though. Another bonus for me is that Striker is an Aussie Jaeger (I'm an Aussie ) But 1 of the main downsides about Striker itself is that Striker was digital so that made it completely vulnerable to Leatherback's incredibly powerful energy blast which rendered Striker completely useless during the coastal siege battle, and Gipsy later had to go save it, and that was a big vulnerability to Striker's design & functionality. It also did not have a built-in nuclear reactor unlike Gipsy had, so they had to attach a separate bomb to Striker, which can be a con in certain circumstances.

Both Crimson Typhoon and Cherno Alpha are probably tied in third place for me...I think Crimson's design was cool with the 3 arms, that was very unique and I like its triplet pilots...but I was unimpressed with its signature attack "Thundercloud formation", with such a badass name like that I was expecting to see a really cool attack, but it kinda left me abit underwhelmed, so that was disappointing. As for Cherno Alpha, I think its attacks & functionality are great, but the thing that disappoint me is the design, it looks so bulky and ugly, especially its head, it basically just looks like it has a giant metal bucket on its head, there's no curves no diverse shapes to its overall design, the whole Jaeger just looks very bulky, boxy, dull and ugly...Cherno definitely has by far the worst visual design out of the 4 main Jaegers IMO. But I like the fact that it was the oldest and the last remaining Mark-1 Jaeger, that proves that it was a very strong Jaeger.

I also really like the Japanese Jaegers 'Tacit Ronin' and 'Coyote Tango', I think they both look really cool...but because they both only appeared very briefly in the movie and I don't know much about their specifics & weapons etc, I'm not sure if I like them more than Crimson and Cherno though...so that's something I'll have to think about.

What about you guys? You don't have to explain your choices in detail like I did, you can just simply type the name of your favorite Jaeger or whatever...I'm just curious to know what other people's favorite Jaegers are...and it doesn't have to be one of the 4 main Jaegers featured in the movie, it could also be a Jaeger that was mentioned or appeared briefly in the movie.

yeah I like Crimson Typhoon too, like I said before it has a cool design and I like the fact that it was piloted by 3 pilots instead of the typical 2...but I was just underwhelmed by its signature technique "Thundercloud formation", it just was not as badass as I thought it would be.

Overall I do like Crimson and it has a cool design, but I still think Gipsy & Striker Eureka are both more badass and cooler.

I'm quite active on the sequel's board too, but that board is also kinda quiet...it's quite disappointing because I love Pacific Rim and love to discuss the movie and its upcoming sequel with other people, but it seems few people are still interested in talking about it on IMDb. I might have to direct my attention to other sites for this movie...

Can't beat the chest missiles and twin blades.

Outside of the movie: Coyote Tango
Has one of the coolest designs in my opinion plus the twin cannons.

but Coyote Tango did appear in the movie though, however you couldn't really see it clearly...even though Coyote Tango was a Japanese Jaeger, Stacker Pentecost piloted it by himself during the battle with Onibaba in Japan, and that's how he met the young Mako.

Among all the Japanese Jaegers that were created, I like Tacit Ronin the best (it appeared briefly in the opening sequence of the movie), even though I don't know very much about the specifics of the Japanese Jaegers their weapons etc, but I like the design of Tacit Ronin, it looks really cool, and it was the first Jaeger that Japan ever built. I think Coyote Tango looks cool too, but it was a little too bulky IMO and that probably compromised its speed and agility...but at least it was faster than Cherno Alpha.
I think Japan built 3 Jaegers in total, it's a pity they were all destroyed.

Romeo Blue was an American Jaeger that also appeared very briefly in the opening sequence...but it was never piloted by Pentecost as far as I know, he's only ever piloted Coyote Tango and then Striker with Chuck towards the end of the movie.

My favorite was only seen in the prelude of the film, where it was shown being built and then later destroyed. It was called Horizon Brave, and it reminded me of one of the Destroids from MACROSS/ROBOTECH known as a TOMOHAWK MBR-04-Mk VI. It has the same general color and appearance except the TOMOHAWK has two long Plasma Cannons in place of arms and two sets of missle racks on its shoulders.

oh yeah I remember that Jaeger Horizon Brave, I didn't know which country it belonged to so I had to do a little research and learned it was a Mark-1 Chinese jaeger, it was destroyed during the battle in Manila.

My Favorite Jaeger's in this film were the Mk-1's...they were chunky and boxy like Mecha have always appeared in early Anime. Horizon Brave, Tacit Ronin, Coyote Tango and Romeo Blue all had that old skool Mecha look. The Mk-3/4's seemed a little too streamlined and slick for my tastes-although I did like Striker Eureka. Tacit Ronin was a perfect example of Japanese Mech design.

I don't like the chunky, bulky and boxy designs, so Cherno Alpha looks rather ugly to me.
But I do agree with you about Tacit Ronin though, despite it being an old Mark-1 Jaeger, it still has a very cool design that I think is more 'posh' and much less bulky & boxy compared to Cherno and Coyote Tango, and as you said its design is also very reminiscent of the typical Japanese Mecha style, I just wish it was featured more in the movie.
Even though Gipsy Danger was a newer Mark-3 Jaeger that had a more slick and contemporary look compared to the older Jaegers, but I think it had some really cool old rustic features too, such as its nuclear reactor. I think its overall design has a really great balance of both old rustic look and more contemporary slick look.

You might wanna check out this great book called The Art of PACIFIC RIM-MAN, MACHINE, MONSTERS. If you really love this film it has a lot of great material, from concept sketches of JAEGERS and KAIJU, Specs on ALL the JAEGERS in the film, great artwork of all the JAEGERS and some that never made it to screen, Artwork of KAIJU...concept and in film with specs on them too!

It also has sections explaining how the suits interact with the jaegers, how they came up with all the technology and more explanation on the Kaijus Home Dimension. It also comes with extra pullouts with stickers of each Jaegers WW2 style art painted on with their name, like old pin-ups, character keycards for the shatterdome, and more exclusives.

I've only seen snippets from that book but I'm trying to find scans of the complete book...do you know where I can download the complete book or scans of everything from the book?

I've no idea, I found the Hardcover at Barnes&Nobles a week before the film opened and never saw it at any bookstore again. I have my copy with my other film books, it's from INSIGHT BOOKS if that helps.

Really? I'm the only Cherno Alpha fan? Cherno just looked so bulky, and strong. Cherno is my style.

Crimson Typhoon was probably my least favorite. Underwhelming in every way, went down way too easy.

As I said in my original post, I like Cherno Alpha, I like the fact that it was the only Mark-1 Jaeger left, that proves that it was a very strong Jaeger. I just hate its overall design, visually it looked ugly, too bulky and boxy for my liking.

For my favorite Jaeger, I've got to go with Crimson Typhoon. I really can't explain why, but I just love the three arms.

They're all cool, but it's Striker Eureka for me. I like the pilots being father and son, who have killed more Kaiju together than any other Jaeger. Also, the first time we see Gipsy she is slow and gets beaten to a pulp, and while that's necessary for the plot and she of course gets faster, the first time we see Striker it's beating the crap out of the Kaiju with incredible speed, and it seems to do so without any issues whatsoever. I always wish we'd gotten to see more of that, since Herc was so disappointed about the closure of the Jaeger program. Imagine that; everyone screaming about the Kaiju and the government wishing that they hadn't shut down the program and oh no what do we do, when what to their wondering eyes should appear but Striker Eureka and her pilots, saving the day last-minute style and looking fabulous while they do it. Their armor is cooler, too. Love the gray.

Plus, even when Striker breaks down the Hansons get their flare guns and go try and shoot a FREAKING KAIJU with a FLARE GUN even though they know they'll probably be dead within seconds. That's courage.

I get what you mean...Striker was the fastest Jaeger afterall and the newest and technologically advanced Jaeger they had, it was the only Mark-5 Jaeger in the movie meaning that it was theoretically the strongest technologically, hence it's not surprising that it had the highest count for Kaiju kills, but that is also largely because of the great partnership between Herc and his son Chuck. HOWEVER, like I said, the fact that Striker was a digital Jaeger with all these highly advanced technology and weaponry, can still pose a huge vulnerability and disadvantage in some situations, and indeed they did prove to be a huge vulnerability and disadvantage when Leatherback completely incapacitated Striker with his energy blast and Gipsy Danger later had to go save it and save the day.
I also actually disagree with you about Striker being the "strongest" Jaeger because I don't think it necessarily was...it was the fastest Jaeger, but I don't think it was necessarily the "strongest", Striker had a huge flaw in its design which posed as a huge vulnerability during combat situations. I think Leatherback would've destroyed Striker if he wanted to when Striker was completely shut down, and it almost did destroy Striker and its pilots, but it was interrupted when Gispy finally showed up to save the day.
I think the truly strongest Jaeger was Gispy, because even though it was an older Mark-3 Jaeger and had less advanced technology, but it was afterall the only Jaeger that actually saved the day during BOTH battles; Gipsy was the only Jaeger that successfully killed Leatherback and Otachi and saved Hong Kong during the coastal siege battle, and the only Jaeger that actually destroyed the breach and saved the world as a result at the end. But I think that has more to do with the great partnership between Raleigh and Mako...because even though Gipsy was not the most advanced Jaeger technologically (even with all its upgrades), but because of the very strong and impressive partnership and synchronization between Raleigh and Mako, they were able to defeat the Kaijus and save the world through Gipsy. I also think out of all the Jaegers in the movie, the upgraded Gipsy probably had the least amount of flaws in its design and functionality, making it the most efficient Jaeger in the movie.

You also need to consider the fact that during the final underwater battle in the end, Chuck had to co-pilot Striker with Pentecost because his dad Herc was hurt...and being partnered together for the first time, maybe the partnership Chuck had with Pentecost wasn't as strong as his partnership with his father, so that might have also affected Striker's efficiency during the final battle.

And finally, while I agree that both Herc and Chuck were courageous, but I think ALL the pilots who piloted all the Jaegers were very courageous too, I mean, piloting a Jaeger is a very dangerous job, there's always the chance that they might die fighting these Kaijus...and indeed many pilots had died fighting the long war between humans and Kaiju since it all began. These pilots literally risk their lives every time they pilot these Jaegers in order to fight the Kaijus and save the world, hence they were all very courageous and brave.

Oh heck, I'd never say that they were the ONLY courageous pilots! Of course every pilot has to have massive amounts of courage to do what they do! I'm just pointing out what a great scene that is with the two of them, since it probably isn't every pilot who would climb out of their Jaeger to try and stop a Kaiju with a flare gun.

I agree that Striker is faster because it's newer, but I don't think that makes it any less cool. I like the idea of a fast Jaeger and I like to see it in action more than a slow one, hence Striker being my favorite :) Also I don't think I ever said that Striker was the strongest, I always assumed that that was Cherno Alpha in term of brute strength. Striker ain't no weakling, though; it lifted Otachi up over its head and threw it.

I agree about a lot of its success having to do with its pilots, and not having Hercules undoubtedly hampered it in the final battle, but that's how it is with every Jaeger. It's not unique to Striker.
