Texas Rangers Anachronism

I think it's really weird that Fitzgerald tells this story about his father being down with the Texas rangers, and this movie takes place in 1823.
The rangers didn't really even form or have any significance before 1823. In fact the first mention of them is in 1823, and then they were officially formed in 1835 by the Texas government. That just seems like a really dumb mistake to me.

I had no idea about this.

I mean looking back on my post it sounds kind of snobby. I had to look it up, but when I heard it, I just knew that they couldn't have been around at that point.

All I can contribute to the subject is that when I heard that line, I wished I was watching The Lone Ranger instead...

"Well...I've seen enough. Come on Charlie, we're going home."

It did stand out somewhat Fitzgerald telling a story about the Rangers, well, well before they were ever officially recognized as a paramilitary force. These things do happen.🐭

Well Texas is still Mexican at this time so no Rangers in Texas.

You may have taken care to make sure to spell rangers in lowercase, so what is the problem? Back then a "Texas ranger" could've been simply a ranger in Texas, and most assuredly rangers (as in the skirmisher variety of soldier) existed long before then.
