Except for the scenery. I couldn't watch in one sitting (HBO) - dozed off several times. Repetitious, tedious, too long. DiCaprio won the Best Grunter Oscar. He never had a scene that showed acting versatility, just a collection of 3-4 tortured faces. When he crawls into the moose or whatever to keep warm I was like Jeez even more bloody animal entrails? The characters of Fitzgerald and Bridger were much better acted. Bridger was my favorite character overall.
It was perfectly enjoyable as far as I'm concerned.Bridger was definitely very well acted.
I don't agree on Fitzgerald though,it came across as a try-hard performance.And about the Leo thing we are completely on different pages on that one-I thought he completely deserved his award.and It looked much better than a HBO production.C'mon even if you hated it.

You're right about one thing; the movie was a bit too long. Leo did some exceptional training that shouldn't be overlooked here. He learned two languages, how to load and shoot a musket, build a fire, study with a doctor on ancient healing practices, and worst of all ate the real buffalo liver even though he's a vegetarian. Tom Hardy was good as was Will Poulter; but I think Leo staked more into his role than the others.

I liked the cinematography and some of the actors but it was really... boring. And pointless. I wanted to sleep after the first half.
