Video Comparing the Bear Attack Scenes Between This Film & MITW

MITW standing for Man in the Wilderness. I was looking up videos about this film and MITW when I came across this video comparing the bear attack scenes between these two films.

Truth be told, I couldn't get through most of it because seeing both scenes at the same time was so distracting and I honestly thought that I was going to have a panic attack due to the levels of intensity each contained. I couldn't watch either scene without cringing and holding my breath. I skipped ahead to 3:28 of the video which also compared brief scenes of the main characters drinking or attempting to drink water from a stream and eating raw bison.

Here's the link to the video in case you guys are interested.

Excellent link! And who knew there were so many similarities in bear attacks.... So if you've seen one bear attack you've seen'em all.

Will we ever see the Grizzly Man footage?

reply

Thank you. I agree when it comes to bear attacks. Yeesh.

Plus, I love the build-up leading up to the attacks in both scenes. Though, their set-ups are portrayed differently, of course, the build-up and mysteriousness are the same. Both times, you can feel and think that, "Something is about to happen and I'm scared.".

You know, I STILL CAN'T get through most of the video. I actually seen the two scenes a couple of seconds longer than the last time but I couldn't finish viewing them. I felt my heart beating so fast and I thought I couldn't breathe to where I paused the video. I'm still shaking just thinking about it.ξ€ΎπŸ˜§πŸ˜°

That was great. Thanks for posting. I could have done without the eating raw meat scene, though. Kinda makes me vomit.

Amazing watching the two scenes together. Yeah I got panicky as well.

reply

You're very welcome.

I see what you mean about the eating the raw bison meat scene(s). I actually cringed a little but those scenes didn't bother me as much. I don't know how Richard Harris and Leo were able to stomach the raw meat. Mad props to both actors.

Amazing is correct. I wouldn't be surprised if there are more scenes in both films that are similar. I hope at some point, I'm able to get through in watching the two bear attack scenes, whether separate or together, without feeling like my heart is about to jump into my throat and my stomach feeling like it's about to erupt. Oh God.😰

I was finally able to get myself through the video. It was very difficult, and I couldn't stop flinching and shaking half the time! Yet I managed to see quite a bit. Especially with things like Glass' throat being clawed and the bear clawing/standing on his back. Same goes for MITW. My God! I was holding both my heart AND throat to calm myself.😲

I honestly had to keep telling myself that I could get through it. I stopped the video a couple of times to catch my breath and continued on.

Well doneπŸ‘

Thank you.πŸ‘

As I've said before, it wasn't easy getting through it. I couldn't stop shaking and kept flinching. Though, I've turned my head away a couple of times, I forced myself to look.

I remember seeing Glass aiming his rifle right at the bear for a couple of seconds just as she was coming back to attack him for the second time. And I was thinking, "Why is he just laying there with his gun aiming at the bear who's clearly coming back towards him?". I actually yelled at my computer screen saying, "What are you waiting for?! Shoot her! Shoot her, for Christ's sake!". Geez!!!😱

reply

Really well done scene, I thought.

So glad you finally saw the movie. Good for you for pushing through your anxiety.

reply

Forgive me but...............still haven't seen the movie yet. Nor Man in the Wilderness.πŸ˜–

That was the main reason why I pushed myself to see the entire video. So I can train myself to at least handle scenes like the bear attack scene to some extent.😩

The truth is, I'm a little nervous on seeing this film with my own two eyes. We have a copy of a the film but I'm still rather anxious to see it. I really want to see it(and MITW) but my anxiety is holding me back.

The more I watch the video, the more I'm sorta getting use to the bear attack scenes. Still, uneasy and panicky. I've got to put on my big girl pants and see the films.

reply

You haven't seen it yet?

reply

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, I've long seen this film.

reply

I haven't seen MITW. The first time I watched the bear attack in The Revenant I could not believe my eyes. I've been a huge movie fan since I was this high, have seen tons of great visuals, but the bear attack was once of the greatest achievements ever. I couldn't take my eyes away despite the incredible horror of what was happening to Glass. I've never watched anything so realistic which I simultaneously knew couldn't have actually happened.

I've watched the bear attack scenes a couple more times since the first time and find them a little more difficult to endure, which is curious since usually a person gets used to visual violence.

I watched this the other evening--maybe I was too tired to really get involved, or my sofa too comfortable, or my screen too small -- but I just found the bear too fake! It was like I could see the structure of a machine underneath a "bearskin suit." (I have seen real bears pretty close to me in national parks as well as zoos.) For me, it might have been more frightening and believable if they had not shown so much of the bear. The attack in "Legends of the Fall" was much more horrifying to me because you didn't see so much -- it was filled in by your own imagination.
