Performance changed between the 2 seasons??

Am I the only one who thinks that season 2 Steve Brule "sounds" different from season 1?? The way John C. Reilly performs the character is different than before. I have a hard time understand the things he says now, and this comes from a fan of his character since Awesome Show. Don't get me wrong I still love this show and 2nd episode of this season "Pleasure" made me laugh so hard, it was amazing and I love Reilly too, he's great. But it somehow looks like he forgot how he was portraying this character (of course that may not be the case, maybe he or the makers wanted this change, I dunno)..

Before this season, Steve Brule was a "believable" idiotic character you might stumble upon in real life too, but this time he looks like a little bit overacting and definitely highly caricaturized. The show and him are still hilarious to me, but it just boggled my mind. Has anyone realized this??

I noticed the same thing and it sorta bothered me. But then I saw Pleasure and realized that it was the best episode they've made yet, so I guess change is good.

Brule seems a bit slower this time but I didn't notice that big of a difference to be honest. Maybe I'm just happy that we get to see a second season, specially how hilarious it has been.

I saw this change too. Someone on reddit put it best when they said that it kind of seems like Brule has had a stroke since his Awesome Show days. In ASGJ I remember him being more excited, legible, and faster than he is now, like you guys say. The show is still funny, but I think I liked it better when I could believe that Brule had SOMEHOW gotten a doctorate, and now in this season I guess you could say he's been "Flanderized" with him not being able to write and not understanding anything about anything.

It seems like there are more jokes about Brule's stupidity and sexual weirdness than there are about his general awkwardness.

Considering his childhood, locked in a cage in the brasement with his momma's crats, I guess it's understandable. For your hell!

If you go back to season 1 of TAEASGJ he looks a lot younger and more together, but he's clearly not right in the head. Now he looks quite a bit older and I attribute it to Steve just getting older and all the Brule-isms are being enhanced with age.

His hair is thinner, his eyes and teeth are worse, he's heavier, etc. All the things I pretend are simply aging. People who are eccentric in their youth often turn out to be certified wackos as they age.

I like to think of it as a character arc: Brule is gradually becoming more and more corrupted by his experiences in the show.
