Things that bothered me...

For this point you have to think less of the script itself and more of the scriptwriter. Being fiction they had to come up with a very common name to make it sort of work, so they chose Jones. If instead they would have chosen "Ejiofor" for example it would have raised much more suspicion in Adaline's mind. Is it plausible that she would not have been suspicious of Jones? Maybe. I am not bothered by it.

4) Am I the only one who wanted her to end up with Harrison Ford?

No you aren't, other people have mentioned that sentiment. But that would have been breaking up a happy marriage. Put yourself in that situation, you have been with someone a long time and are happy, but an old boyfriend/girlfriend comes along and breaks things up. Would you be thrilled by that?

3) I agree as far as not completely seeing the chemistry, but on the second part, I can understand that she acted like a distant cold-hearted bitch all the time so she probably didn't make very many connections. It took a very persistent man to break through.

4) She obviously didn't have enough chemistry with Harrison Ford to tell him the truth and let him in. For Ellis she turned the car around. That's with her being young and unguarded in the first relationship and then completely guarded and skeptical in the second. Second one obviously meant more just looking at the facts even though the chemistry seemed to look better in the first on what was shown to us.

I thought it was better that Harrison Ford spent his time trying to convince her to stay for the sake of his son. To me that fatherly love was the most touching part of the film. He put aside his old love and his old hurt for his son.

1. The reason they split because she doesn't want to reveal who she is, why would she look him up. I am glad she didn't peep through the window from bushes LOL....

You bring up a great point about that she should have figured that out...

I loved like 2/3-3/4 of the film, but was really disappointed that nothing more was done with Harrison Ford's character. The whole "but, Ellis!" thing felt weird, as did the rushed resolution. I also thought it odd he wasn't suspicious of her motivations, and hurting his son too, much less just instantly pushing them together!

I also hated, HATED them taking away her immortal-ness. As soon as the truck hit I was scared that was what they were doing, and it just totally ruined the last half hour or so.

I like the idea of her life being altered by this event...that this family is sophisticated enough and good enough to keep the secret, protect her, but thst does NOT necessarily mean she should end up with Ellis, and even if she does, I HATE her immortality being stripped away for a lot of reasons.



I basically went from a 5/5 to...I don't know, the last 25 minutes almost totally ruins it for me :-/

I didn't care for the movie much. It was a cute idea, badly executed. The biggest annoyance was the unneeded and corny commentary throughout. "And so Adaline this", and "and so Adaline that". It ruined any chance I had of enjoying it, by bringing it down to a kindergarten level. The worst one was the last one. Like we really needed to hear an explanation of why she was aging again. DUMB. The director was out to lunch.

No. I don't think she should have ended up with Ford. It would have ruined his existing marriage to a wonderful companion. Dumb idea OP.

This movie actually had a shot at being something very unique and classical, but it was trashed in the childish way the director implemented his story. Instead, it's just another one of those movies that are entertaining to watch, but doesn't cut the mustard, and leaves you thinking about 'what might have been'.

I agree with your point about the two leads lacking chemistry. I'm guessing this is probably one of the main reasons you wanted her character to end up with Harrison Ford. I think the screenwriter tried valiantly to create moments of chemistry between Ellis and Adaline, but it never really gelled. Given that, you've got an always compelling screen presence in Ford, so it seems natural to see her still drawn to him as audience interest (at least for me) perked up every time Harrison Ford was on the screen.

Clearly they were trying for an epic story feel, similar to The Mysterious Case of Benjamin Button, but it just didn't work well enough to make this movie a classic, or really move me that deeply. To be fair, I felt the same way about Benjamin Button..

4) I also wanted her to end up with the dad. Their story was more touching and they had more chemistry. Their first meeting with each other was by chance as if destiny put them together. While on the other hand with the son Ellis, he made sure he met her. Their meeting was forced while adalines and the dad's first interaction was as if fate brought them together. You could tell it was something really special with the dad because he was the first person she told her real name to. It appeared she was more careless and felt free with the dad which to me shows how much she loved him. I assume many of us want her to end up with the dad because that was her first love (besides her husband) which she could've married. Unfortunately she ran off because she didn't want to tell him the secret. I know it would've been wrong to ruin the happy marriage he had with his wife but the author could've made it happened if ford was a widower. Also if this was the case I guess it would've only worked out if they ran away together. Which would still be a good ending to me.
