Quick Review
Just saw this at TIFF. It caught my eye because of Catherine Keener, and her past history with independant films.
I was really let down. This is a Jane Fonda vehicle / chick-flick / triple rom-com.
During the Q&A after the movie, the producer was asked to comment, and though (or perhaps because) English wasn't his first language he admitted that they had commissioned the script from a Woodstock pair with Jane Fonda in mind as the hippy grandmother.
We get to watch Type A lawyer Keener and her 2 kids vacation in Woodstock, smoke pot, listen to the Dead, fall in love with locals, and live happily ever after. There is even a women's luna party where they howl at the full moom.
Kyle MacLachlan is on the screen for a total of 90 seconds (but he was good enough to come on stage after the TIFF showing).
Stay away, guys.
