Not a great movie, but I could look at Elizabeth Olsen all day
Even given its stereotypes, its unrealistic idealizing of people and life in a small, upstate NY town and environs, and its overly cute and predictable situations and forced romantic relationships, I still enjoyed this movie, somehow. Guilty pleasure, I guess, plus I really enjoyed most of the actors. Nice to see Jane F. looking so beautiful and having such fun (or giving me that impression, anyway). Elizabeth Olsen is truly one of the most alluring, luminous people to be found on screen these days, and I've found her to be quite good in this and MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE, the only two of her films I've seen so far. She seems like a thoughtful person, and I like that she has so much training and experience in theater.
Multiplex: 100+ shows a day, NONE worth watching. John Sayles' latest: NO distribution. SAD.
