So I am a clothing designer and due to my incessant ranting about The Dark Tower, we are now on the verge of becoming an official licensee of Dark Tower apparel in the outerwear category (hoodies, jackets etc.) What would YOU like to see and what would you wear? HELP! Good calls will certainly get a free sample from me if it comes to fruition.
- "Stand and be true." on the front, and the "Gunslinger's Creed" on the back - Eye of the Crimson King - Sigul of Eld - Something with the rose and Roland's revolvers - Tet Corporation (although I found out there were some Tet Corporation shirts given away at SDCC) - Maturin, possibly with the poem underneath ("See the TURTLE of enormous girth!...") - (Text only) "Go then. There are other worlds than these." - (Text only) "We are ka-tet. We are one from many." - (Text only) "Never a Dull Moment in Mid-World" - (Text only) "All things serve the Beam." - (Text only) "Roland & Eddie & Susannah & Jake & Oy." - (Text only) "Long Days and Pleasant Nights." - "Unfound" script
I'm sure there are plenty more lol. If I think of more, I'll add them later. :)
I am envisioning a black (best for contrast?) or perhaps dark blue/purple (colors of royalty) background. On it: an eagle with it's wings spread wide and positioned just above the sigul of Eld. Both the eagle and sigul would be silver or perhaps a very bright grey. You might even have the eagle clutching the sigul with a single talon.
If you will recall, in The Drawing of the Three Roland mentions how the eagle is a symbol on his banner.
Now, if you REALLY want to hammer the symbolism home, frame the border of this article of clothing with thorny vines or roses.
--- It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing ๎.
hmmm, tough one as i'm not really a fan of wearing something that screams "I'm a Dark Tower Junkie geek, look at me", something more subtle that looks good but only a fellow TDT Junkie would notice...
Say a map of mid world that only lists the baronies and such, doesn't actually have "mid world" emblazoned on it. If i passed someone and thought i spotted the word 'mejis' for example on their tee i would do a double take "Hey, i think that dude was wearing a mid world map" and think it cool.
Or just the lines of the beams with the guardians at each end in runic style.
* I can see some possibilities with Charlie the Choo Choo, love the illustrations of him. But a massive print seems a bit heavy to me. I'd like the idea of the material having that washed out distressed look, almost like it does in the book. And if Charlie wasn't the major focus, the novelty element of 2D in fashion could be emphasised maybe. Or with the black/white/sepia elements, one splash of red in the picture (the eyes or steam or one of the kids?) could almost make it a King meets Banksy look.
I'm very much like Tina there; I love obscure references (like the "Brown Coats" shirt from Firefly).
Hmm... Man you've given me something to really think about, ha ha! I just wish I'd gotten to the books a little sooner so I'd have more Dark Tower in my head. I swear, by the time the movie is out I'll have made my Team Cuthbert shirt.
LOL You wanna get super crazy, genre mixes make heads explode: "My patronus is a billybumbler!"
I'll think some and get back to ya. ~.^ This is FUN, though!
Yeah, I am on your level... Im thinking along the lines of vintage distressed washes with very subtle "nods" to The Dark Tower... Like a small embroidered KA symbol... Thngs like that.
How about a black tee w/ the Tower on it. No other words or images. Just a tower. And the color? A shiny black material. Similar to the back of the Gunslinger book that came out circa 2003ish? (Can't remember which specific version).
Really like someones idea of the tower/beams & runic symbols for the guardians at each end of the beam.
Along the same lines of an obscure reference, you could always go with a Dixie Pig shirt so it actually looks like a promotion for the dive, but DT fans would totally get the nod.
๐ I think the Takura Spirit would look funky as 80's retro, that really thin almost see through material with an elastic neckline (god i hated those shirts back then but i'd probably love it now haha). Nozz-A-La would be cool too, i'm seeing it as a Warhol type soup can print.
