The trailer really had a TV quality to it. B-movie in the works?

I know that the trailer is unfinished, but everything felt so wrong with it. Much worse than I feared. Nothing so far has made me hopeful.

Looks bland, generic and boring as hell. In other words: the opposite of the books.

I feel the opposite. But in either case it is nonsensical to judge from a trailer this unfinished. For anyone that hasn't already seen it there are green screens showing everywhere for one thing.

One thing that I did notice with some chagrin is that the story so heavily seems to focus on Jake as the protagonist and Roland as his Gandalfy adult helper/mentor/father figure.

But I guess the writing's been on the wall for that for a while.

But how you feel that you can judge it to "look bland and generic" from this unfinished patch-work trailer I don't get.

Sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion

I agree the leaked trailer didn't really look good. I realize it's not a finished trailer, but you can still get a good look/vibe of the movie and it just doesn't look very good. This solid cast needed a solid director too.

As I have said in other threads, this looks like a Michael Bay movie.

reply

Yeah, it really does look like something Bay or Emmerich would create.
