Screw J.J. Abrams! (Westworld)

This show is awesome but playing "Paint it Black" during a Western shootout scene is obviously an idea you got from TDT... And before the movie comes out! Also, the show has the same costume designer for TDT.. Really well done!

Blaxploitation is making a modern day comeback.
Coming soon...Clark Kent, Bruce Wayne, Peter Parker, Magneto, Tony Stark (oops, that's already happening), 007, Hulk, Indiana Jones, etc.

I can't friggin' wait!

I was talking about the song by The Rolling Stones! Shoo, racist, shoo!

??Racist??

How?

If you are being sincere, I agree!

I thought I was being sincere, though a bit comical along with it.

This post wasn't about race... Plenty of other places for that!

reply

Never meant to make it that way.
I just assumed when you mentioned that one of the songs in Westworld's soundtrack would be "Paint it Black", you were eluding (or suggesting a wink) to Roland from The Dark Tower being a black character.

This post wasn't about race... Plenty of other places for that!

90 percent of the threads on this board is about peoples rejection of Roland being black (not that yours was)...so come again.

Ah. My bad, I should have been more clear... I was referring to "Hey Jude" being in The Dark Tower... And "Paint it Black" in this.. I don't think it's a coincidence.

reply

My bad also.
I'll have to Youtube "Paint It Black" to hear it. I don't know if I've heard it before.

It's a great song!

reply

LOL. I listened to only 25 seconds of "Paint It Black" before I realized I've heard it before. But still, I see no connection with "Hey Jude", as the music is different.

So J.J. was the first person who had the rights to The Dark Tower movie as you may or may not know... He couldn't make it happen for whatever reason and now this... I feel like he took a page from The Dark Tower by using this song and likely hiring the same costume designer on purpose to cash in on his mistake of not making a movie he was pretty excited to make... Its a great show and I'm hooked... I just hope people don't draw a false parallel that The movie is copying the show. I know that "Hey Jude will play out in a similar way in the movie.

I get it now.

But off-topic. Whenever I read any of the Dark Tower novels, the song that floats through my head has always been Kiss From A Rose by Seal.

I guess it has something to do with that single red rose in the empty lot.

Is the premise of the show really that similar to Dark Tower? I haven't seen it yet.

reply

It's not.

Btw, Westworld needs to find its footing.

I was so hyped for the show, but it's not popping the way it should yet despite what many will fool themselves into thinking.

HBO's been banking on it being their GOT replacement, but it's lacking the finesse of GOT's early seasons.

I'm still holding out for it.
