The Dark Tower Audio Books
Has anyone ever tried these out?
I've listened to the first two, and so far so good.
They are kinda like bedtime stories to me.

I love them. I've listened through the series twice. Great for commutes, road trips or just laying in bed with some headphones.
Frank Muller and George Guidall both do a great job voicing the characters. Although I enjoy Muller's voice more overall, Guidall does Jake just right in my opinion.
It can be a little jarring switching back and forth between their voices since, for whatever reason, they decided to switch voice actors multiple times through the series. It doesn't take long to settle into the voices and enjoy the ride.
I tried to listen to Wind through the Keyhole with Stephen King reading it...nope! Lol. I decided to read it myself instead. Sorry King, you're not a voice actor.

Right on. I have pretty much only listened to The Dark Tower, Lord of the Rings, and the first few books of The Sword of Truth series.
Don't worry about the visually impaired aspect of it. I'm sure they'd be happy to share. It's an awesome way to experience these stories.
The Dark Tower audio books are amazing! Ive listened to them all 3 times, the 4th book Wizard and Glass is incredible in audio book format.
King himself during the prologue of one of the audio books states that they are the best way to read any book. He used them to read the older Dark Tower novels while writing the newer ones.
I'm a Gunslinger. I deal in hard calibers.
Frank Muller read the books originally, and died soon after Book 4 was done. There is a bit of switching that seems to go on because the first book, The Gunslinger, was eventually revised by King to make it in his words more complete and also introduce a lot of Mid-World's terminology early on. Muller originally read The Gunslinger, and by the time the revision was complete (about the time of books 5-7) it was left to Guidall to read the first one. Muller's version is available in Torrent if you are interested.
I don't know if you're aware of this but I've already changed things. I killed Ben Linus.

The original recordings of books one and two were done by King. Muller rerecorded them to give a more even sound. And he did not pass away until 2008--four years after the final Dark Tower novel was published.

Listen to themโthe children of the night. What music they make!
I own the whole set...Stephen King even dedicated Wolves of the Calla to Frank Muller (who narrated books 1-4) - and he said many times that Frank's narration inspired him creatively in finishing the series.
King himself narrates Wind Through the Keyhole. He's not the best narrator, especially compared with Guidall and Muller, but it's cool to take a little side-trip with the author...
The audiobooks are a MUST. They will expand your vision of the DT world a lot (King also recommends them for this reason)
