So Roland is a superhero now.

Why were there buildings exploding and running and stupid shyt in a D T movie? Where is the monotonous desert and mountains???? Hahahahaha. Suckers

Granted, I was one of the unlucky few that didn't get to see this preview before it was pulled, but was it Roland running? He gets attacked by an entire village in the novel, and then when he realizes Jake is gone, he goes tearing after him as well. I know changes have been made, but I'm just pointing out that running is something in Roland's wheelhouse. He also alludes to the battle that destroyed Gilead frequently, and he also references how brutal that battle was. I'm sure some buildings got destroyed in that.

Tyler, I know you don't like this production, but some of the points you make can be refuted. I'm not trying to insult you or anything like that, just point out that there are legitimate reasons for Roland to run and buildings to fall.

reply

I know what you are saying, but you will see for yourself. Imagine Con Air or Alcatraz type modern city actiony stuff.

reply

I would hardly call a short shot of a building with a hole in its side and some rubble strewn on the ground and Roland walking away from it as being "Con Air or Alcatraz (don't quite understand your reference here) type modern city actiony stuff." Looks more like either a Beamquake just occurred, or it might have something to do with the way Roland gets to the America Side.

I don't know if you're aware of this but I've already changed things. I killed Ben Linus.

Jericho hill. Ya i can imagine how that should look, just like every other scene from the books. Nothing like what we will get. Looks like a different story altogether

I'll just have to wait to see the finished product, then. Even though there are some people displeased with what they saw, I think it's mostly the people that have been disappointed with the project from the jump. I'm still excited about this movie, so hopefully I'll enjoy it more than you did, but I'll do my best to see it from your angle as well. Modern city explosions would certainly be a big change from the book.

reply

I saw lots of sprawling desert pictures in the EW photos... Didn't you see those? I also recall lots of explosions! Do you think that trailer was the whole movie?

reply

That's definitely a good thing, Percy (is it okay that I called you that?)! See, maybe they'll have a perfectly good reason for having the explosions. An unfinished trailer is hardly going to explain to us exactly what we're seeing. It's intention is to pique interest after all.

Two minutes of a two and a half hour film.

It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing .

reply

I have no problem with it. Roland has always been a badass.

reply

Exactly.

reply

Suckers?
Do u get off on this?

reply

Yes.

reply

Broken building=beamquakes

reply

Relax, that is only a short scene from when Roland and the gay, wisecracking Jewish robot Oy time travel to modern day Hollywood to Matrix fight some terrorists.

reply

Remember how they left Black Thirteen in a storage locker in the World Trade Center in the books and even speculate about what would happen if the towers were destroyed while it was being stored there? Maybe part of the revised storyline is that Flagg goes to NYC to retrieve it and Roland has to try and stop him and, in consequence, making Flagg the indirect cause of the 9/11 attack in the DT movieverse. After all, the date does have 1 and 9 in it.
