Elba is a beautiful linebacker looking black fellow. Now, if we accept these things to be true, it baffles me that he would be an entire casting departments first choice for a role supported with such a substantial wealth of contradictory background information.
Now, before anyone starts up an 'I'm more liberally progressive than you and don't even see the colour of someones skin or whether or not they have a vagina when I look at them whilst being a vegan doing CrossFit on my laptop in public' d**k-swinging competition, let's just cut out the drama and accept that I'm a big nasty racist redneck basement-dwelling virgin.
So lets get down to brass tacks - what gives with casting a black guy as a white character? Are Hugh Jackman, Javier Bardem, Russell Crowe et al. really that bad at doing acting that a black guy (who matches about 5% of the physical characteristics of the character in the books) is the ideal choice for the role?
And remember, I'M A BIG RACIST, so please skip the pre-amble and the ad-hominem vitriol.

Hey, doctor (since your name starts with Who). Okay, is it perhaps possible that his audition was so good that, considering Roland's color had absolutely no impact on his life as a whole, that they were willing to make that skin color alteration? I mean, there is that consideration. And the other actors that were being suggested you don't think might have been good enough actors to have other projects underway? Salary demands outside of budget? A simple dislike for Stephen King and the somewhat spotty reputation his movie adaptations have earned themselves over the years? Is it possible one or two or all of them auditioned, but none of them managed to channel Roland quite so well as Elba did? I mean, there are a million reasons the actors you've cited might not be in the movie, and we may never know any of them. We'll just have to add that to the questions we'll never have answers to (chicken or the egg and all that)...

Now back to my soy-based, paleo, gluten-free smoothie! That cross-fit takes a lot out of a boy-girl!

They cast Elba and mathew m for the project, not the characters. They said M.M. could choose which one he wanted to play. He chose walter, leaving Roland to Elba. Was a business decision, nothing to do with actors or the story.

The irony of you trying to get someone posting about a repeated thread is hilarious. You regularly post complaining about the race change on the Ghost in the shell board (because that's never been brought up at all) and you've now migrated over to the Doctor Strange board to b*tch about the race change in that (a topic that has been beaten to death).
But of course you don't want to discuss the same things over and over again, except for when you do. The GITS and DS boards. Another blatant lie to go with your you don't care about race argument. Whatever, dude. You wanted people to lose their jobs and be tied up in bodily injury over this film. A film. Fictional entertainment. You continue to evade, deflect, and dumb down whenever this thorny issue of yours is brought up. Furthermore, by failing to say something akin to "Of course I did not actually mean what I said. I spoke out of petty anger. No one - especially no one working on The Dark Tower - should suffer because this film does not live up to my expectations.", you are implicitly standing by your statements.

I speak of characters who's skin tone isn't central to their characters as characters who's skin tone isn't central to their character. This isn't specific to Roland Deschain. Nice try, though .

Now, whether yet another minority role (especially in Hollywood) is going to be stolen? A related and distinct issue.

You speak of every white character as if their race is unimportant, and while playing the open minded card you fail to mention that you go round boards complaining about any white person in any role not originally white.
So nice try with that lie again, but since your default is 'White characters are not important, every other race can't be changed' you're racist.
