Well there shouldn't be any changes in the first place.
Expecting no changes in any kind of adaptation is lunacy. There's always going to be changes from page to screen, no matter how minor. And sometimes what's written on the page may be awesome in your head, and just doesn't pan out when translated to a visual medium, so a change might have to be made. Whatever the case, even before Elba was announced, I was ready for there to be changes. I'm willing to give this adaptation and the various changes a chance - it doesn't mean I'm going to accept them when I see it on the screen. I may absolutely hate it, I don't know. I won't know anything until it's actually on the screen.
they have "rewritten" the story and made a superhero modern day action movie.
These are just assumptions you're making based on your previous bad experiences at the cinema. I know, Hollywood has messed up many properties, and there is a good chance they could severely mess this up. But we can't possibly understand the content of a 2 1/2 hour movie from the 2 minutes of a trailer. The American had a trailer that made it look like a Bond-style action flick, it ended up being an extremely thoughtful European-style, slow-burn thriller.
Therefore people on here saying anything other than "what is this crap?" are ensuring they keep making crap like this instead of good movies.
NOTHING YOU WRITE ON THIS BOARD IS GOING TO CHANGE ANYTHING HOLLYWOOD DOES. Do you REALLY think you have a chance of changing things by posting your thoughts on an obscure movie discussion board???
Instead of an intimate film for the fans, they have made generic cgi drivel, trying to not just make a bit of profit and do a good art film, but instead film every theatre and seat in the world with superhero videogame dummiest who are gonna.munch popcorn then forget what they "watched" upon leaving the theatres.
Ooorrrr... maybe it's just possible they created a middle of the road type film that balances the intimacy some fans want with some of the action from the other books in order to maximize franchise potential...? Dude, think about it, they need to get butts in the seat, and they need to please fans. No they're not going to please everybody, there's no possible way they can do that, but they might just be going for a cross-section, where there are intimate quiet moments and then moments of violence - *gasp* just like the books...?!?!?!?!
Once again, we don't know. We WON'T KNOW UNTIL THE MOVIE IS OUT.
I don't know if you're aware of this but I've already changed things. I killed Ben Linus.
