Stephen king should write the film adaptation..
That is one thing that would please just about everyone, and probably make the movie more enjoyable.

shareNothing will ever please everyone. Bunch of whiny bastards!
;)
In an interview, King said he was shown every draft and gave the okay personally to whatever changes were made. Meaning King himself is excited for the movie.
shareHonestly, the less King is directly involved in the writing of a script the better as far as I'm concerned. I think he has a pretty terrible track record in adapting his own novels to screen- or teleplays. For instance I don't know about you but I prefer the Stanley Kubrick version of the Shining to the Mick Gerris version.
Sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion
I am not talking about the script. That is done. I am talking about the novelization of the finished product.
shareBut that is not what you said.

Listen to them—the children of the night. What music they make!
While I agree sometimes with script-writing, it's important to give the author a chance to make sure changes to the story are okay. It's like when they were doing the Harry Potter movies (there she goes again) and they wanted to give Dumbledore a love interest and Rowling had to hold up the "time out" and explain that Dumbledore's interests do not exactly move the way they were steering!
shareI worded that wrong. It's early here.
shareDo you mean something similar to what Piers Anthony did with Total Recall? If so, i think that's a fantastic idea.
shareI am not familiar with the novelization of Total Recall, but I think it would be great to have a new Dark Tower book with King adding his touch to the movie's story. That is if it is a different enough and good enough story to be worth his time.
sharehmm Piers wrote the novel based on the original short story and the screenplay. I think it was published about a year before the film was released. It's an interesting concept, i wonder how often authors do this type of thing... I personally would love King to do a novelization of the movie, too late for anything before the movie though. King likes to put his fingers in lots of pies though so i wonder if there would be a chance maybe of a written accompaniment for the movie of some sort. I'd like the movie to do well at the box office so sequels can then get the go ahead too, something by King himself to help bridge the gaps regarding the deviation of the source material would be great to see. (and possibly reign back in the detractors of the movie/source material purists lol)

Are you totally messed in the head???? This movie is based on a book.... Why would they write a new book about a horrible adaptation? Lmfao. You will love this film buddy. It's made for people like you.

Perhaps Stephen King didn't want to write it?
Instead, he hired some professionals from the land of Hollywood (where people make movies) to write it for him?

They hired professionals to write this? I thought they hired Goldsman and Arcel to write it. Must've thrown out the script by professional writers and replaced it with this by those two afterwards.
shareThe problem is he'd include all that s*** about lightsabers and golden snitches and himself writing the series within the series.
Its a great series, The Dark Tower, but there's plenty of bollocks in it too.
If at first you don't succeed, you're not Chuck Norris
