Official Thread: How Pretty Much All Of King's Work Is Connected To TDT.

We'll start with Carrie. She's obviously a Breaker. And Chamberlain is part of King Country.

Salem's Lot: Father Callahan, Type-1, Type-2 and Type-3 Vampires.

The Shining: This one is a little theoretical, but when the Overlook Hotel blew up at the end of the book, it said that a shadowy manta-like shape emerged from the burning ruin, much like what was described leaving Susannah after she had sex with the incubus in The Waste Lands. It's possible that the Overlook hotel was possessed by a creature of the Prim, one that was able to turn the hotel into a time-loop and trap its victims there indefinitely.

EDIT:

Night Shift: Jerusalem's Lot, goes without saying, and Night Surf takes place in the same universe as The Stand.

The Stand: Randall Flagg is The Man In Black Also, this universe is visited in Wizard And Glass.

The Dead Zone: Again, theoretical, Johnny Smith potentially a Breaker?

Firestarter: Charlie McGee, Breaker material?

Cujo: Takes place in Castle Rock, part of King Country, which is closely connected metaphysically to The Dark Tower.

Different Seasons: Shawshank Prison exists in King Country, The Body takes place in Castle Rock, and in The Breathing Method, the inside of the club where the story is being told resembles the lower levels of the Crimson King's palace, which lead to different times and dimensions.

More to come.

Come quietly, or there will be...trouble.

IT: Dandelo and Pennywise are of the same species (I'm pretty sure...)

Salems Lot: Father Callahan in Salems lot and in the ka-tet from WOTC

reply

Keerect.

I always thought IT was one of the Guardians of the Beam, somehow trapped in our world. Given all the talk of following the path of the beam that occurs in the book...

I don't know if you're aware of this but I've already changed things. I killed Ben Linus.

I always thought the fat religous woman from tull that turns the town against Roland is the same religous woman from the supermarket in the Mist.

reply

Also forgot to add that the Mist and the creatures inside it could have come through a tinny the military accidently opened up

reply

Yes, those creatures are from Todash Space.

Come quietly, or there will be...trouble.

Firestarter: Charlie McGee, Breaker material?
I'd also add to the Breaker material list Charlie's parents, Andy and Vicky McGee. Also, I've always wondered if The Shop was possibly a precursor to Algul Siento.

reply

Dolores Claiborne and Jessie in Gerald's game share a moment, whether it's breaker material, shine or a possible thinny i'm not sure.

Leland Gaunt in Needful things plays with towns similar to The Man in Black.

The painting in Rose Madder is a doorway quite similar to TDT doors.

ETA: Ophelia Todd is clearly driving through thinny's in Mrs. Todd's Shortcut.

reply

Right. Apparently this shared moment is due to a beamquake.

Come quietly, or there will be...trouble.

reply

You appear to be correct. But how did Dolores know later that Jessie was in trouble again?

reply

Also forgot to mention The Eyes of the Dragon where the man in black tears a Kingdom apart. Dont remember much besides not really liking it, a first for one of stephen kings books.

reply

Forgot their names, but the two guys who leave to find Flagg are mentioned going after him, and one of them getting killed by Flagg, somewhere in TDT series.

Come quietly, or there will be...trouble.

Out of curiosity, does the fact that Charlie and her folks were all empowered due to scientific experiments discount them as potential breakers? Also, Delores Claiborne and Gerald's Game were connected by the eclipse, so I'm not sure if that factors in. I'm not entirely discounting it, but never considered them to be part of the Dark Tower story.

Of course, Talisman and Black House are (half) set in Mid-World.

How about Insomnia? Other than Patrick Danville, are there other connections? It's been decades since I read it, so it's pretty fuzzy, but I remember loving it.

By the way? LOVE the theory that Carrie is a breaker.

reply

Isn't there some reference to carrie in one of the DT books?

reply

Oh, wow, is there? I'm only partway through W&G. I haven't seen one yet (though it would be like me to miss a more subtle reference), and it's been so long since I read them I don't remember seeing one before. I'll keep my eyes open for it!

reply

I havent read them in a long time either, but I think I remember a mention of Carrie. Not in relation to the breakers but just a refernce to her and the incident at the prom. Might be a newspaper article... not sure. Let me know if you come across something during your re-read!

reply

Pretty sure that Tak from Desperation is of the same race as Dandelo and Penny wise.
