This 19th, we have a teaser poster :)

Sony tweeted this out earlier today. Not much, but it's something. 

Also, with all their other notable upcoming movies - Underworld: Blood Wars, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, Spider-Man: Homecoming, etc. - it's interesting to note that this tweet has been pinned to the top of the Sony Pictures account's timeline.

Well it's something!

Sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion

reply

Yup! Now to continue waiting with bated breath for the trailer lol.

It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing .

reply

Also, is the dusky pink color scheme used in the poster a nod to a certain rose? Hmm...

reply

I ought to take a picture of the lone rose growing in my backyard against all odds and compare the hue/tint of it and the poster some time.

reply

Ha - nice! Extra cool points if it sings too. :)

reply

Amazing.

All my doubts have been squashed.

reply

What do you guys think non_DT readers would make of this poster?

reply

They'd wonder what the hell is going on.

It doesn't tell its audience anything.

reply

Now, to be fair, it's kind of hard to sum up 8 novels worth of content in a single poster. Just sayin.

reply

Now, to be fair, a poster is supposed to be selling and giving SOME indication of its movie's story.

Which, it does not.

reply

But there have also been several movies released with "teaser" style posters that tell you nothing of the story. Everything from Deadpool to Finding Nemo. All they can really do is highlight the primary character(s) (check) and perhaps show you one of the most important aspects of the story (check). We have Roland and a tower. It is, after all, just a teaser. I'm sure more and better will be released now that they've given themselves time to work on it.

reply

It's a solid attention-grabber. That said, I expect the finalized poster to be simultaneously more diverse in its color palette and evocative in regards to imagery chosen.

reply

Whoa there! If you keep up this level of excitement, I might have to prepare the fainting couch and smelling salts lol.

reply

From the pink petals of a rose, to the dark red of blood (perhaps a bloody R is coming). The faint tower in the background. The high speech symbol for The White. Roland walking with Jake.

Simple poster, but enough for me.

reply

Thanks for sharing, love it. Looks like we're back to the 19th tradition! 

Books are a uniquely portable magic. ~Stephen King

reply

No problem - and yeah, it does! :) I'm eager to see what other marketing goodies they have planned.

reply

Seriously this is all it takes to please you people? A cheaply photoshopped poster with two people walking put through a colour filter, wow. The bar is set so low for some of the people on this board that it's impossible for you to criticise anything.

reply

Le sigh.

reply

Very well thought out and witty response there.

Oh, Spider. We both know you don't want a well thought out and witty response. You either want an argument or you want approval of/agreement with your bumhuggery - neither of which you'll get from me in this thread.

Merry Christmas, Sug! So sorry this is way off topic but I figured I might as well get it in where you were most recently active, ha ha! And merry Christmas to you, too, Spidey. Smile a little, or you'll end up with a ghost portrayed by Idris Elba introducing you to the ghosts of Dark Tower Past, Present and Future and send you off on a journey both whimsical and treacherous! Hey, but if ends with you buying the Dark Tower cast a Christmas goose, maybe it'll be for the best...

Aww, no worries! Merry Christmas to you too, Joanna! 

 My Christmas wish is for ol' Spidey to try embracing some positivity, but smiling is a good start. Baby steps. LOL

I cannot help but picture "Rogue" of the "X-Men" when you say "sug".

If it'll lure my a sexy Remy LeBeau, I'll start using it even more. No doubt about it... 'sug.

The sign of someone with low intelligence and nothing to add, a post containing nothing but an emoji.

reply

On the contrary: it is the sign of an individual who is adept at pattern-recognition and wants to maximize efficiency in their responses. Say something new - or at least worthy of response if not new - and you will get a meatier post.

A long post, still saying nothing of substance.
You need to refute a single point I've made already before I make any new ones, wouldn't want to confuse you by giving you too many questions to counter with avoidance at one time.

Shut the hell up

reply

No, but you can feel free to follow that instruction.

The text should have been long days and pleasent nights.
