This. After seeing the leaked trailer, all optimism is lost for me.
It looked nothing like "The Dark Tower" to me. AT all.

That trailer was dreadful. And since it looks like they are skipping (or changing to the point where its another thing altogether) the first book, we probably wont get to see roland shoot up Tull and then trip on mescaline and impregnate a demon :(

It was just a poorly made trailer. I hope the official one is totally different. Roland will be the best part of the film. Sadly I don't think we will get enough of him. I don't think This Jake can carry a movie. My biggest fear is that Idris will be geart as Roland. But the movie will be mediocre.

Even if that is the case, that doesn't mean it can't be a great film on its own merits independent of the franchise.

Yes, absolutely true.
I really enjoy good movies. But im hyped for this to see TDT come alive on the big screen, not just any movie.

Even if it ends up being a good movie, it won't be the best movie. I make that judgement based on the assembly of talent absent of the material they are working with.
