Why is Cain Rose Up OK but Rage isn't?
just curious... Has King mentioned the 2 together?
shareI'm not familiar with Cain Rose Up. Are you referring his distaste for Rage? I think it's simply because a school shooter cited Rage as his inspiration. That would certainly make me feel uneasy about a piece of work I had published, too.
shareIt looks like the Wikipedia page for Rage mentions a comment King made on both novels together, something about how he might have been viewed as mentally disturbed if they were more recent stories.
It's the same argument as blaming video games or movies/tv for violence. But I can understand why King doesn't want his name associated with people who can't distinguish fiction from reality.
The maze is not for you.

How many people have now killed dozens of people at once by running them over with a car? Mr. Mercedes should be banned too by King's own logic. I thought Rage was excellent as were all the Bachman Books. I still have a paperback version of the Bachman Books and read it every once in a while and hope that someday Frank Darabont (who owns the rights) does a proper adaption of The Long Walk.
