The "Elements pulled from The Dark Tower material" thread [Spoilers].

It has often been repeated that this first film will "start in the middle", but no one (or no one that I know of) is fully aware of just what that means besides the appearance of characters from later novels.

So, the purpose of this thread is to note and gather all the elements which hail from specific novels or comics in an attempt to clarify just what/who is being utilized for the live-action adaptation. Start chiming in if you have something useful to share !

The Gunslinger  -> Jake Chambers (his first appearance, after all). The Man in Black.
The Drawing of the Three  -> New York City itself. The gunshop in NYC (named differently, but likely fulfills the same role).
The Waste Lands  -> The House on Dutch Hill. Possibly Lud (I am iffy on this).
Wizard and Glass  -> Susan Delgado.
Wolves of the Calla  -> ???
Song of Susannah  -> Sayre. Tirana. The Dixie Pig.
The Dark Tower  -> Pimli.

Comics
* The Sorcerer -> Arra Champignon

--- ---

Roland himself does not count, as we are already aware he exists and because you cannot have a The Dark Tower film without him .

It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing .

reply

the waste lands - the house on dutch hill (not confirmed but most likely from the pictures)

wizard and glass - susan delgado

song of susannah - sayre and tirana

the dark tower - pimli

I'm a Gunslinger. I deal in hard calibers.

reply

Thank you! I will add all of those to the list.

reply

The only thing that's throwing me off so far is the character from the comics and what role she will play.

reply

That would be Arra Champignon, I take it? Consider her added to a new entry on the list .

reply

Indeed. And her end was brutal as *beep*.

No real proof but I'm banking on katheryn winning being sister jenna from sisters of eluria. Which to me if they take out tull eluria would be a good alternative.

reply

Do you believe the Battle of Tull would be too gruesome, even for an R-rating?

reply

No not to gruesome but think sisters of eluria would probably be more entertaining and the masses would get behind the hero killing vampire bugs more then killing semi innocent townsfolk.

Bump.

Bump, as there seems to be some confusion about this lately.

So they've cherry picked the entire series in order to form a typical main stream narrative?

All of this looks so bad, I always imagined how cool a movie adaptation of The Gunslinger would be. I knew the filmmakers would have to be bold and imaginative to adapt it to the screen but they've definitely gone the safe/lazy route. Just doing whatever the f*uck they want to make an "every movie".

The extra 6 months they have to work on the special effects is a promising but the $60 million budget isn't.

I do f*ucken hope to god that it's good though, whatever it is that they end up pumping out..

I'll always have "The Gunslinger Born" comic as a nice visual companion to the books..
