Roland's Untold Story

Roland was speaking to Jake about something or other, then he veered off the subject to offhandedly mention seeing "...a man who wasn't there"
He also mentioned having to kill this man after he began using his invisibility to rape women.
When Jake pressed him to tell the whole story, Roland promised to tell it another day. But he never did...unless I missed it. I believe that would have been an interesting story to tell.

I also kinda thought he was referring to one of Flagg's many doppelgangers, since becoming 'dim' was one of his many traits.

Does anyone remember this?

If my memory serves me right wasn't this mentioned in the wind through the keyhole?

reply

Probably was. I forget which novel this conversation happened.
I'll have to thumb through the pages to find out. Would be faster if I used the audio-book. But my mind keeps believing it was the original Gunslinger novel.

It was. I thought it was referencing Randall Flagg raping Nadine Cross who still was at large in the dark tower. But it I think it was key after all

reply

That's mentioned in the first book, I'm currently re-reading them to see how far I can get before the movie is released so my memory's pretty fresh. Maybe King can be pressed to write a short story about it, like The Little Sisters..

reply

I thought so.
Thanks for confirming.
A novella length story would be an excellent addition that could either sequel Wizard And Glass or prequel The Gunslinger.

I think he was talking about Bill Cosby.

In WTTK, Roland battles a skin changer (lycanthrope). To my memory the books never cover a battle with an invisible man. Yet.
