RED PATRIARCH (Late series spoilers)
Do you believe the subsequent installments of "The Dark Tower (2017)" should feature the Crimson King?
If we were dealing with a straight adaptation, the parameters of the discussion would change (namely, it would automatically be assumed that he would enter into the equation at some point). However, it appears as though the cinematic part of the The Dark Tower franchise is, at the moment, a cosmic sequel to the books as we know them. You can expect to see certain scenes, locations and, yes, characters will get the axe.
As you know (gee, I always wanted to use that line ) the trifecta of pure evil eventually fully materializes with Song of Susannah and The Dark Tower. I am, of course, referring to Flagg, Mordred and the Crimson King himself. Each being has their own motivations and each one died a rather unceremonious...some would say "anti-climactic"...death.
We already know Walter/Flagg is in the picture. Not only because Matthew McConaughey playing him is obvious knowledge, but because the story falls apart if Roland's arch-nemesis isn't in the picture to help constantly drive him towards the object of his obsession. Mordred, I think, isn't a guaranteed storyline entity because of how bizarre/involved the events leading up to his birth would be to translate to the silver screen. Many other people expressed a similar sentiment about the demonic man/spider hybrid before I really sat down and thought about the subject, so I am at least somewhat ready for this exclusion to the plot we will see unfold in future films (assuming sequels are greenlit, anyhow...).
The big bad King himself is a character I don't think is entirely essential to this turn of the wheel. If Walter/Flagg is stepping up to a more prominent front-and-center role as the trailer indicates, and if this is supposed to be the time Roland "gets it right" on the xth iteration of the path to redemption, then I can see the wisdom in extracting a late-in-the-game rather unsatisfying "final boss". To top it all off, we may only receive three to four films instead of one film per book...so there is the even more limited runtime factor to consider.
What do you lot think? Should he stay or should he go?

It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing .
