A BLACK ROLAND!! AAAAAH!!!

At first, I totally hated the idea of a black Roland, for the same reason a whole lot of people mentioned, which is the whole racial clash between Odetta/Detta & Roland, but think about it, it can be done, instead of Odetta/Detta calling Roland a "honky mafa", she can just call him an "Uncle Tom". There, problem solved. Nothing has to change...but then again, things will change, things will be different for it is an adaptation, you have to go in with an open mind..It can still be great, but it will be different. Remember, their are other worlds than these.

I never read any of the Game of Thrones books, but I absolutely love the show, its one of the greatest ever...but I know some people who have read the books and some of them say that they are going against the books and ruining it all, but then their are some people who understand that it is an adaptation and go into the show with an open mind and love what they have done with the show. They basically keep it separate. Like I said we have to or else anybody who read the books will not enjoy the film adaptation..."IT" is my favorite book of all-time. Did the TV film adaptation do the book justice? Not even 10%, but for what it was, I enjoyed IT. I hope the theatrical version will be much better though. I wish Fukunaga was still directing IT...I am going off topic, my point is, go into this film with an open mind and try to separate it from the novels, though that may be hard for some of you, that is the only way it can be enjoyed by the readers, because no matter what, it will not be the novels. So don't go into it believing they can be...Long days and pleasant nights.

She could also call Eddie the "honky mafa"

The racial clash is one reason but the main problem is the detailed description of Roland throughout the series.

True, Stephen King did give us detailed descriptions of Roland throughout the books. But regarding the movie(s), he said he doesn't mind a black actor in the role. The way I figure it, if the series' creator doesn't mind, why should I?

the detailed description of Roland throughout the series.

Which is essential to the plot...how, exactly?

Well, because clearly only a white actor could do the things Roland does.

Let's be bad guys.

Which is a real shame. I actually just read The Gunslinger for the first time and really enjoyed it.

There is roughly half a year left before this film hits theaters!

Yeah, I've been saying the same thing for a while Chicken, and not one "black Roland" detractor has really responded to it in any meaningful way. There are a number of ways there can be tension between Roland and Detta even if he was black - such as calling him Uncle Tom - and the haters just ignore this. Even a certain arachnid has naught to say on the matter.

I don't know if you're aware of this but I've already changed things. I killed Ben Linus.

For real. They just need to get over it and go into the movie with an open mind, or fall back and don't watch it if it upsets them so much.
