Would Evan Peters make a good Eddie?

Of course I would love Aaron Paul to play Eddie but that means aging up his character.(Which I wouldn't mine). Evan Peters was a good Quicksilver(Better then Marvel's). And I like him in American Horror Story. Think he could bring it? Or am I nuts? Lol. Who would you cast as Eddie Dean?

reply

Eddie is a really tough one for me. I always pictured someone like Ryan Eggold (best known as Tom Keen in Blacklist) for him, but I'm sure there are a lot of actors in Hollywood that good do the role justice. Or is that just wishful thinking?

reply

It never occurred to me to imagine Evan Peters as Eddie. I was blown away by his performance in American Horror Story: Hotel.
I didn't even realize it was him until halfway through the season!!!!! Much respect to him.

Besides tylerrepotter, Evan Peters is 100% one of the best young actors around.

In actually kind of like the idea of Evan Peters as Eddie. Never thoght about him as a choice. I like it. I don't dislike Aaron Paul, but he's kind of one-toned to me. Not bad, not great. Evan Peters has been the best part of the last 2 xmen movies. Awesome attitude as Quicksilver.

I definitely would not hate that casting

As much as I love Sam Rockwell, I think he's a little old for Eddie. A younger Rockwell would have been perfect. He does funny as well as serious.

Especially love him in Gentleman Broncos!

reply

Sam Rockwell is one of my favorite actors, too! Galaxy Quest is hands down my favorite comedy. But alas, I also believe Sam Rockwell is too old for Eddie. It would have been brilliant 15 years ago, lol!

Oh, good call, Jed. Not 100% sure because he's almost too pretty for Eddie, but he definitely has the acting chops required for the role.

reply

Indeed! Man, Galaxy Quest is one of my favorites, too. Not sure a sequel would have been necessary, but it would have been fun to see before the wonderful Alan Rickman passed :(

Rockwell makes every movie better, ha. 15 or even 10 years ago he'd have been great. I'll have to think more on an Eddie. Again, I like Evan Peters, but maybe he's a little young? I just finished Eddie's introduction in the book, up till Detta/Odetta is introduced. Peters has the right overall look, and imagine him as an 80's quasi-punk/junkie (probably due to paintings in the book). I young Gary Oldman would have been great, too. Like from Sid and Nancy, where he played Sid Vicious.

Evan Peters could do a Sid Vicious like character, I can see it. But they also may change Eddie a bit in this adaptation. I still don't like Aaron Paul, tho. He'd be Okay, but I think someone could do better.

reply

With Stormy, on that. I just looked up Evan Peters and while I like him, not so much as Eddie. And I second the thoughts on Sam Rockwell making all movies better, but I felt the same way about Alan Rickman. Dude, no lies, he was the first actor I ever cried over when I heard he had passed away.

I'm still with my Blacklist actor, lol. He'd make a great Eddie in my head. He can also pull off a really good New York accent without it being over the top; that's important to me. I absolutely HATE IT when actors are like, "Okay, I'm going to be a New Yorker!" and sound like they want to go pahk the cah in Havahd Yahd or something instead.

reply

I'm gonna check on your Tom Keen, Jo. Not sure I've ever see him (that I know of).

I'm kind of against Joseph Gordon Levitt. He has the chops and I like him in most roles, but can't see him as Eddie. I think going with a lesser known actor is a better idea. Less chance of expectation issues (a la Elba as Roland) and a chance to let a newbie (w/ the chops) to shine.

Damn, Jo. I just don't know. I finished Eddie's intro part in TDotT just the other day, so Eddie is fresh in my mind. I'm having trouble putting anyo actor I know in his shoes. It'll be interestingto see who they pick. I hear Aaron Paul thrown out a lot. Just don't see Eddie there either. Like I said, I always imagine a Sid Vicious era Gary Oldman, or close to Gary. Not as obnoxious as Sid, but his look and disposition. Perhaps Eddie isn't that bad off on smack, but close...

reply

Evan is 29, Eddie was just 21 or so, so I think he's about right age-wise (in Hollywood terms, anyway)

reply

This is true! He looks the right age for sure. He's ne of my shortlist picks. Trying to think of a few others...

reply

Wonder what the guy who played Rob Stark in GoT is up to nowadays...

reply

Forget his name, but I can see him as Eddie! Yeah, he kind of disappeared since the Red Wedding!

reply

Richard Madden is doing a tv series about the Medicis, and not too much else since the Red Wedding, just a few roles here and there.

reply

He would be terrible as Eddie, like he is as twitchy fast kid named Peter (that character has nothing in common with Quicksilver, and the avengers version so so much better). But considering every other dodgy casting in this, he'll probably be cast. Hell I wouldn't even be surprised if they cast him as Odetta.

I think someone slightly grittier.

Steven Yeun for Eddie Dean! (You cant even be upset with that one at this point...)
