Take A Drink: The "The Dark Tower (2017)" Edition

Take a drink whenever...

...someone states that Roland being a white guy is important to his character.

...someone states that Roland being a black guy doesn't matter as far as his character goes.

...someone suggests having a white actor play Martin Luther King Jr. for the sake of "equality".

...someone accuses the film's production of being politically correct.

...Spider198 makes a pretty bold claim and never backs it up.

reply

You reminded me of another one.

...whenever someone declares that they're done with this film and everything associated with it, yet hangs around this message board and continues to share their hatred the same way they share their carbon dioxide with the environment surrounding them.

Oh, Hell, that's ANY board. :D

LOL - we're all going to have alcohol poisoning.

reply

Well, hell. If the majority of participants are comatose in the hospital, then there isn't much more to do.

*sigh*

No one is denying that Roland's skin color has been defined.

What we decry is the implied notion that his skin color is like THE Dark Tower: a cosmic linchpin that holds the story together and will cause it to close upon itself like a star imploding should it fail to be represented.

Given that you've chosen to boycott this film, you apparently hold it in very high importance.

Then you must constantly be self-flagellating. There is no such thing as an adaptation that is a carbon copy of the source material.

reply

And you don't are about character's skin colour at all, you aren't a hypocrite at all right? You've definitely not been complaining about a character being played a white actress on another board?

Reported for making petty (and false) shots at me by name.

You could add

Captain Wesker displays a blatant double standard and tries to explain it away with an overlong post of bullsh*t.

reply

[deleted]

No always false. Reports again for repeating the same claim with this post.

reply

*shakes head*

Wow. Despite your generally crummy attitude and the differences between us, i've never reported a post of yours. Kudos for managing to get a bogus report successfully through and a nonqualifying post deleted.

Thing about being the boy that cried wolf, though, is that you become ignored near the end.

Anyhow, i'm going to reiterate what I said before.

(false)

But it isn't false. You have countlessly called this film and those not vehemently opposed to it "PC".

Here is yet another recent example of an unsubstantiated claim -> http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1648190/board/flat/254317435?d=254320308#254320308

For the purposes of this thread's drinking game, you more than meet the criteria.

Mindless shills try to claim race isn't important... Yet immediately contradict themselves whenever anyone suggests changing Susannah's race.
Race isn't important for Roland, not because he's white but because he's from an alternate universe that does not share our racial dynamics. Race is important for Susannah (and Eddie, and Jake), because they come from our world and their race shaped who they are as people in a way it never did for Roland.

It's the question that drives us. I know the answer is 42.

reply

There's another one: Take two drinks if someone goes on a long rambling post to justify their double standard.

You just did it twice... People like you would make it a deadly game.

reply

We get it. You won't see the movie. So why are you here?
