It would be great if the Western Sea segment in a future The Dark Tower film was shot up here in the Pacific Northwest. We have some humbly beautiful stretches of beach that would match up nicely with the mostly featureless tracts of gray sand on that otherworldly coastline.

These are some really nice beach photos. 👍 I really like this one in particular...

...mostly because the colors remind me of this Michael Whelan illustration.

But I agree - the Pacific Northwest would be a good location for the Western Sea. The way the beaches in many of those photos have mountains in the distance, I could easily imagine those to be the Cyclopean Mountains (most likely with a little CG touch-up to make them look a bit more craggy, of course).

Roger that.

Take out the people, shoot away from the houses, film during the right time of year (when the skies are mostly cloudy yet precipitation occurs infrequently), apply the right color grading/filtering, touch up with CG whenever necessary, and you've got locales fit for the "Drawing".

Of course, I don't mind any location so long as it evokes the proper feeling...but it would be nice to know that my coastline was used for more than just The Goonies .

Agreed, the Pacific Northwest coastline could definitely be a contender for beach locales for a sequel based on The Drawing of the Three. Not sure what the costs would be for the filmmakers to shoot there nowadays, but if it's not too bad and the location works, I don't see why they couldn't use it. Of course, much like you, I don't really care where they shoot at long as it looks good and gives us that Western Sea feel (and that's right - I remember it was used for The Goonies ).
