Are they going to be faithful to the books??
Yes or no?
shareNope. They're telling the story from some little kid's perspective now and making it tonally similar to The Forbidden Kingdom. This is far from the books that Stephen King poured his heart into.
shareStephen King has been giving council and been in close contact with the writers of the script.
Sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion
Grenn said that Stephen King is actually "Stephen Cuck". At least we know which side his bread is buttered on.

It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing .
King is nothing but a yes man now. Anyone who had the misfortune of watching 'Under the dome' or 'Cell' , both made with King's blessing can attest to his backing meaning nothing anymore.
Anyone who still thinks King backing this means something, go and sit through all the episodes of that awful show and atrocious film.
An awful show from an awful book seems about right. In case you didn't know most of the adaptations from his books are completely different from the source book.
shareThe book is good, the show is awful because it just takes a few names and the dome and that's it. Like this is just taking a few names, just another in name only adaption with the support of an author who has stopped caring as long as he gets paid. Kingnever used to be like that, he complained a lot about the shining for the changes they made and now he's defending this as it makes more changes to the story it's based on than even Kubrick did to The Shining.
shareAn Awful Show With NOTHING incommon With a fantastic Book Accept Characters names.
shareIf you are looking for a direct (or close to it) adaptation, you will be disappointed. This film is a cosmic sequel of sorts.
Whether the film's spirit will be "The Dark Tower" is up in the air at this point.

My presumption is that this movie is a sequel of sorts to the Dark Tower series. In the books, he scaled the tower and wound up restarting his quest this time with his "lost Horn of Eld". Who knows how many times he repeated this journey.

Just because we see an unfinished trailer that heavily features Jake doesn't mean that this film will be told from a kids viewpoint.
You can have several trailers that with selective editing give the impression of three very different movies.
Only with its release will we be able to tell if this movie will be any good. I for one have faith in Sony that they will get it right first time. Franchise opportunities like this don't come along very often and they would be very foolish to make this suck ass.
No. It's pretty much the Dark Tower in name only, just taken a few names and cobbled together some PC young adult cr*p.
shareYou are so lucky to have seen the movie already. Will you tell me the ending?
shareThey haven't even released the trailer for it officially but I do not have my hopes too high for it. The movie needs to start with
The Man In Black Fled across the desert...and The Gunslinger followed.
Like it's the most iconic and classic line/quote the entire series. Nobody even has to say it, it should be on the screen and then it opens with Roland. It also should be rated R. Hopefully this does really well and they do a whole series of movies(along with the netflix one) but who knows at this point. Once more trailers come out, we will get a better idea of where it's going. I also hope they don't give too much away in the trailers since this is effectively a sequel to the books, which sucks since I had a scene in my head of Roland, beaten and bruised at the end of his Quest coming to the Dark Tower and shouting out all of the names like at the end of VII. He opens the door and closes it. Credits. The the After-Credit scene is him at the top and opening the door, then BAM, you see the desert from the back of of Roland's head, THEN you see the Horn in his hand as he steps through, then it's over. (It's been awhile since I've read the end of VII so forgive me if it's not exactly right.)
But we won't get that now. Sorry for ranting haha.

The Man In Black Fled across the desert...and The Gunslinger followed.
“I expect that the movie will start where the books start. Y’know, ‘The man in black fled across the desert, and the Gunslinger followed.’ I think that nails it right in place for people…I’ve been pretty insistent on that, and I think everyone’s onboard with it.”Source: http://birthmoviesdeath.com/2016/05/18/stephen-king-cautions-the-dark-tower-movie-may-upset-fans-a-little-bit share
