Oscar Noms?
I'm hoping this film gets a few nods at the Oscars. Nice story, great execution, and very entertaining.

shareI don't think it will but it is what Won't back down should have been.
shareAre you joking? Well what awards do you think it should be nominated for? Surely not any of the acting categories. Certainly not screenplay. Definitely not for director or picture. So...
I'm as MAD AS HELL and I'm not going to take it anymore!
For starters, I could see the following being possibilities:
Kevin James: Best Actor
Best Screenplay
Best Costumes
Best Score (maybe)
Kevin James to be nominated for best actor? Seriously? Nothing about his performance was in the slightest bit noteworthy. It was a very typical, inoffensive comedic delivery that was at best decent and at worst boring. Screenplay? This was one of the most formulaic movies I've ever seen, with nothing remarkable to speak of, or anything resembling straying from the standard structure. The characters were one note and the jokes simplistic if not banal. Costumes? It was mostly just wrestling outfits and typical every day clothing so I'm not sure where you're going here, especially in a year that includes Les Miserables, Django Unchained, Anna Karenina, The Hobbit, The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, Cloud Atlas, Hitchcock, Lincoln, and more. I didn't even notice the score so who knows about that.

Maybe I just saw something special and or noteworthy in this movie that others missed. I doubt it will win any oscars, but think that it should at least be nominated somehow.
shareI enjoyed the movie, and it was nice to see Kevin James in a decent movie for a change. Nothing about it is Oscar worthy.

No, no, no and NO!! Not going to happen at all. For one comedies are almost never nominated for an Oscar. Probably the last comedy that was nominated for some kind of Oscar was Some Like It Hot. This film barely has a chance at the People Choice Awards. Kevin James is good some comedies, but his acting isn't Oscar worthy. Got a long ways to go.
Your description of "very entertaining" is what disqualifies it for an Oscar. The only thing that award is good for is to give a list of movies not to waste your time to see.

look at all the fools who got tricked by this troll. It was effective trolling indeed.
shareFunny thing is it was nominated for 3, though none of the ones the OP listed.

John 3:16 : Eternal life through Christ only.
lol, I didn't know that. That is funny.
Something that bugs me about American award ceremonies is that foreign films are relegated to the foreign category. It's the film equivalent of a wastebasket taxon, which in biology refers to an 'everything else' category. There had to have been hundreds of foreign films that could have been nominated in Here Comes the Boom's place.
They are not always "regulated" to the foreign film category. However, like you stated, it is an American Awards ceremony which largely celebrates the American cinema. Making it no different than any other foreign awards ceremony which largely celebrates its own countries cinematic achievements.
American cinema is less homogeneous and more multi-cultural than any other entertainment industry in the world. Yet, for some reason, the world at large thinks Hollywood is a separate country in itself that should be representative of everyone.
Nope.
