I enjoyed the movie but I really wish they got a different guy to voice the main character. I found the actor annoying in other movies he's in as well. Maybe its just me.

I liked him in Undeclared. I don't think I've seen him in anything else. I thought his voice worked well for the dragon series. In the first, he sounds young and a little nerdy, which the character was. In the second, well he's still nerdy...so....
But, you aren't the first person who didn't like his voice. I guess he doesn't appeal to everyone.

I like how he sounds nerdy, geeky, and awkward, all just naturally. Ive only seen a few things that he's been in besides HTTYD but I loved him even in his live action roles.
Don't feel bad, he obviously is annoyed with his voice as well. Remember his reaction to Astrid when he was mimicking his fathers voice and she his? He said, I don't sound like that, obviously hoping he didn't.
shareIt's weird, I've never been bothered by Jay's voice before, but during this movie it was like a drill caving directly into my brain. I couldn't stand it.
"Well...I've seen enough. Come on Charlie, we're going home."
I was fine with it in the original, because he was still a kid then, but in the sequel he's supposed to be around 20 AND HE STILL HAS THAT VOICE! Very distracting.
