Can someone explain to me?

Why was Illya's hand always shaking? And what did his dad do? And what was the little meltdown he had at the end of the movie?

reply

[deleted]

Thanks. And thank god I wasn't the only one who didn't like Gaby. I love Alicia Vikander but I just didn't like the character. I cared more about Victoria than Gaby

reply

[deleted]

I would have loved to dump it on her head! She was an ungrateful bitch! I still feel bad for Illy since she treated him like *beep* and betrayed him and Solo and I agree on the "any guy who approves of her behavior should be in therapy" part. As for Victoria, I agree one hundred person! I loved Elizabeth Dibecki's performance and it's cool that she's going to be in Guardians of the Galaxy 2!

reply

It's pretty obvious Illya was interested in Gaby. They would have kissed at the end if they hadn't been interrupted. He certainly attempted to keep things professional, but she broke through that. That being said, I agree that Gaby was a huge brat.

I wouldn't say Illya grew to "love" Solo, but they certainly liked and resoected each other. I think his melt down in the end was part anger over Solo having swiped the disk and lied to him and part upset over having to kill someone he'd become friends with. And I'm guessing neither man had very man, if any other friends.

Don't kid yourself. It was "pretty obvious" that Gaby was interested in Illya -- but it was equally obvious that he was NOT interested in HER.
They would have kissed at the end if they hadn't been interrupted.
They might have kissed ANY of the three times that Gaby made moves on him, if he had been interested in or attracted to her. When he was NOT, he just used any interruption as his excuse to move away from her.

It looks like you don't know very much about guys yet, because if a man is indeed interested in you, he doesn't keep jumping at excuses NOT to kiss you when you keep leaning in and giving him the opportunity.

Like I've said MANY times in other posts, if he's really keen, he wouldn't care if the bellboy had just arrived or not. If he was just shy, he might pause to deal with the interruption, and then pick up right where he left off.

But to immediately back off and move away from her? That's a sign he didn't WANT to kiss her, but he was trying to be polite to her and not hurt her feelings. Although why he would care about her feelings is beyond me, when she was rude, snotty, sarcastic and bitchy the whole time -- AND she assaulted him TWICE, when he had done nothing to deserve it. Except IGNORE her.....

What kind of man would find that appealing? One who needed therapy, that's who.

reply

If Gaby hadn't passed out that night, the deed would have been done. Remember after he put her in bed and said goodnight, he turned to leave and she grabbed hold of his hand, he turned back thinking it was a go, then she dropped his hand.

The next day, he was in a very good mood and said, "I enjoyed last night" and something about knowing each other intimately since they were playing a couple.

The guy was more than interested.

Gaby was my favorite character, on par with Solo and Waverly. I must admit Gaby's father was another favorite and very attractive.

reply

If Gaby hadn't passed out that night, the deed would have been done.
Hardly. That was only ONE of the opportunities she gave him, but which he didn't take.
Remember after he put her in bed and said goodnight, he turned to leave and she grabbed hold of his hand, he turned back thinking it was a go, then she dropped his hand.
You need to watch it again, because that's NOT what happened.

She had him on the floor so he couldn't back away from her (like he did all the other times she made moves on him). While he couldn't go anywhere, she started moving in on him, getting closer. Did he respond to her in any way? No, he didn't. He just stared at her in stunned disbelief. After she'd smacked him around a few times, she thought he'd might actually want her? How damaged did she think he was?

THEN she passed out in a drunken stupor, so he pushed her off him and dropped her off in her bed. MOST guys, I think, find it a huge turnoff (and DANGEROUS) when she's too drunk to give consent -- so he turned to walk away. He was probably afraid she'd throw up or pee on him, if he didn't get away from her again.

As he tried to leave, she clung to his hand. He didn't turn back in expectation, he was just startled that she wouldn't let go. She was making one last desperate attempt to get him interested. But no, he just dropped her hand and moved away.
The next day, he was in a very good mood
Didn't look like it to me.
"I enjoyed last night" and something about knowing each other intimately since they were playing a couple.
He was being sarcastic, talking about the way she actually THREW herself at him and then passed out drunk. (Wow, there's a turn-on....)

Did you think they actually had sex when she was passed out? I don't think so. He didn't want her when she was sober, so why would he want a sloppy drunk?<shrugs?>
Gaby was my favorite character
Really?? You mean you LIKE women who are rude, snotty, ungrateful, sarcastic, bitchy, and abusive every single moment of the movie? What was there to like??

reply

hahahahaha it's like BTT NEVER left

reply

You mean because she was right? <shrugs> We both are, if any of you had any idea at all of reality. Get a clue.

She was right about WHAT? You are "new" to this board so how would you know on what subjects she repeatedly interjected us with her homosexual predilections?? hmmm

reply

Wow, you just didn't think that through, did you! <snickers> Well, as you might have realized, if your pitiful "amateur detective work" had paid off (and you were a bit more intelligent), I've belonged to this site for two years and two months already.

Do you not think that, during all that time, I might have been reading all these boards, noticing who I agree with, and who is reasonable? I thought BetterThanThis always made a lot of sense, and she expressed herself so well. ("interjected us"? Really??)

I ALSO noticed who the crew of jerks were, and there were PLENTY.

I didn't want to start posting, at first, because I thought the goon squad would just come after ME instead. And it turns out I was right....<shrugs>

reply

reply

Hardly. That was only ONE of the opportunities she gave him, but which he didn't take.
All of the "opportunities" were mutual and mostly kisses that could not be completed, my favorite being when Solo left Ilya in charge of checking Gaby's tracking device. They were both moving in for a kiss when Solo walked back into the room interrupting with a knowing "all turned on now?"

Gaby was miniscule compared to Ilya. She took a running leap to get on him. If he had wanted, he could have just stood there instead of falling backwards and she would have broken her back hitting him. It would have been tantamount to hitting a brick wall.

THEN she passed out in a drunken stupor, so he pushed her off him and dropped her off in her bed. MOST guys, I think, find it a huge turnoff (and DANGEROUS) when she's too drunk to give consent -- so he turned to walk away.
He did not push her off him. He carried her to the bed as is. Please notice how strong he is, He was able to get up with her exactly the way she landed, rearrange her legs to hold on, and carry her to the bed like she was a little rag doll. Also notice how sweetly he looked at her when he said, "Goodnight little chop shop girl."

Until that incident he had treated her with cold indifference. He now treated her like someone under his protection. Remember after the car and motorcycle crack up, he held her in his arms while she was shaking with trauma and looked at her almost like a father.

Did you think they actually had sex when she was passed out? I don't think so.
Good for you. You've got to be a special kind of scum to take advantage of anyone when they are out. I said, "If she hadn't passed out, etc."

reply

All of the "opportunities" were mutual
Sorry, no. I watched it four times in the theatres, and every time, she was moving in on him. He didn't respond at all -- although he certainly could have, if he had wanted to. He just didn't want to.
and mostly kisses that could not be completed
And why were these kisses she kept initiating never completed? Because he didn't WANT to, so he just used any excuse at all to move away. A man who is interested wouldn't do that -- and certainly not time after time.

If he was bashful, he might wait until the interruption was over, and then resume. But he wouldn't just immediately back off and do something else, if he was keen.
Solo walked back into the room interrupting with a knowing "all turned on now?"
Perfect example: In desperation, she had resorted to standing on a table and had tricked him into sticking his hand up her skirt, pretending she couldn't manage that huge switch by herself. <eyeroll> And he still didn't want her? How humiliating for her! She should have just given up right then.

So what if Solo walked back in? He could still have kissed her anyway -- if he had WANTED to. But it looks like he just didn't.
Gaby was miniscule compared to Ilya. She took a running leap to get on him.
He could have squashed her like a bug. I thought he should have hit her right back, when she kept assaulting him for no reason (fair is fair, after all), but he was probably afraid he'd accidentally KILL her.
carry her to the bed like she was a little rag doll
He carried her to bed like she was a sloppy drunk who couldn't even stand up. Not very ladylike..... After the way she'd been mistreating him, he should have just left her there in a heap on the floor. But somehow, there are people who think men LIKE being abused. (The healthy ones don't.....)
Remember after the car and motorcycle crack up
Yes, I do. He checked with Solo first, and when he said he was okay, THEN he moved on to ask Gaby.
he held her in his arms
No, he didn't. He was just seeing if she was okay. Big guys often worry about smaller and weaker creatures, be they man, woman, or animal. They feel automatically protective.
looked at her almost like a father.
Bingo. Not like anybody who had found her bitchy rudeness and snark attractive.
You've got to be a special kind of scum to take advantage of anyone when they are out.
I agree. Which is why I was shocked that you had said:
The next day, he was in a very good mood and said, "I enjoyed last night" and something about knowing each other intimately since they were playing a couple.
That sounded like you thought she had managed to get into his pants, at some point during the night. If you didn't, then I'm relieved.....

No I absolutely did not say or imply that. From the beginning I said that If she hadn't passed out, it would have happened since they were both clearly smitten.

Most people are anxious that this relationship progresses, unlike you who desire to see it @ssbackwards.

reply

From the beginning I said that If she hadn't passed out, it would have happened since they were both clearly smitten.
But THEY weren't at all. As I've shown, the interest was on her side only, which was obvious.

She gave him MANY chances to kiss her, or more, and he never would. That means he just didn't want to. He certainly could have if he had wanted to, with all the opportunities she gave him.
Most people are anxious that this relationship progresses, unlike you who desire to see it @ssbackwards.
I might have thought so if I thought Gaby was even a nice person. But when she was rude, ungrateful, sarcastic, and bitchy to him CONSTANTLY (even when she was NOT smacking him around for no reason), I have to shake my head at anyone who thought she would deserve to have a big sweet hunk like him. I don't think so!

I see that all the time, though: Big gentle clods who are degrading themselves by wasting their time on some snotty little bitch who treats them like crap, and who deserves to be alone for the rest of her life. (And no, even if she's "pretty", that still isn't good enough.)

reply

Now that I remember, at this time I don't think she was ready to have sex with Ilya. Even though at the very beginning, during the car chase when she first saw him she gave a little smile, I think that she was not happy with his ignoring her that night playing chess so she proceeded to get very drunk and started messing with him.

She knew his history already, remember she was Waverly's agent, and taunted him with a couple of slaps. On to the floor. To put it mildly, he was socially awkward and responded to having a pretty girl on top of him. He was ready for a kiss when she passed out. You can see the frustration on his face.

This incident softened him up to being closer to her psychologically. Actually at this point she had him wrapped around her little finger where he remained for the whole movie.

Whether or not you want to buy this, it is the real situation in that movie universe.

reply

He was ready for a kiss
I don't think so. He was just staring at her in disbelief. He wasn't moving towards her or responding in any way.
when she passed out. You can see the frustration on his face.
It looked more like dismay or disgust, to me. "Gross...." And he quickly got out from under her so she wouldn't barf in his face.
To put it mildly, he was socially awkward
That I agree with. Big, awkward and shy clods always get my attention -- while suave, self-confident, and conceited guys like Solo leave me cold.
Actually at this point she had him wrapped around her little finger where he remained for the whole movie.
You can't possibly be serious. It's just amazing how many people ASSUME they were like the usual tired and hackneyed movie couple, where she's behaving like a total bitch and somehow he just wants her MORE. Not in real life -- unless he's in dire need of therapy.

And how can people keep imagining he wanted her when he made no moves of his own towards her, never responded to the moves she made, didn't even look at her when she was leaving and waving goodbye, and didn't look up at her at the end when she walked in when he was enjoying a cosy drink with his big buddy who had always been there for him, saving his life, fighting for him, AND recovering his father's precious watch.

After all that, why would anyone think he'd even CARE about the snotty little bag who had always been rude and abusive to him? I always wonder what planet those people must live on.<shrugs> I know that some guys only think with their lower heads, but she wasn't even that special to look at.

reply

I'm going to agree to disagree and leave it at that.

reply

Cue the Twilight Zone theme.....I read this post and immediately thought it was penned by the ever present, Gaby bashing Better Than This"BTT". I guess I have too much free time but when I reviewed JeanKennedy's limited history it was similar to the shows on which BTT commented in the past. So I visited old posts on this site dealing with the Gaby character and issues involving romantic interests between the two male leads(BTT's reason for living) only to discover that all of BTT's posts were deleted. Hmmmmmmm....only to be replaced by Jeankennedy. A coincidence???

OMG after writing this I checked out one of few posts by "Jeankennedy" on the Big Bang Theory board. What are the odds, by her third post she was called out as BTT by another member.

BUSTED!!

reply

I guess I have too much free time
Clearly you do. You idiots spend all your days harassing people, sniffing around their posting histories, and playing half-assed detective. And the rest of the time you cowards are REPORTING people who disagree with you. You call that a life??

"Called out" by some dimwit who thinks two people couldn't possibly agree with each other about something that is obviously true.<eyeroll>

And you're in exactly the same boat. You're all to pathetic to believe.

OK "Jean" give our best to your alter ego BTT. At long last you have found someone who has your back!! Between the two of you, you make a WHOLE wit...

Did I say HERE? Obviously not. I wasn't even posting here earlier -- and morons like you are the reason why.

You seem to have no life at all outside of this board, because you think it's the only board there is. That's just sad.

Give up your "amateur detective" work. You suck at it. (And now you're stalking me from board to board, sniffing around? That's even sadder.)

reply

Like I've said MANY times in other posts
You haven't posted ANYWHERE here on IMDB using your current ID other than a couple here, and to bitch on TBBT. You are a troll using a SOCK.

Deal with it. It's not anyone's fault but your own that you are this dense.

Now did you have any opinion on the movie we're discussing? Or did you just slither over here to harass me? (I think we already know the answer to that one....) <eyeroll>

reply

I slithered over here when I saw you are a complete liar. You have a 2 year old account with barely any posts until days ago. And talk about slithering over, that's you on TBBT board, with your garbage troll posts.

And yes, I read your post. The fact it, it's all BS, just like you and your SOCK ACCOUNT BLT. Everyone knows it's you - so give it up already. The least you could do is not post in the exact same manner with your sock account - DUMBASS.

So you DO understand that we're two different people, since you think I would be mad at what they did to her.

I'm sure she's disgusted at how the censorship on these boards is way out of control. There I would agree with her, of course, when even MY perfectly innocuous messages are starting to "disappear".

It's a dangerous first sign that dissent is slowly being stifled, in the U.S. The Brownshirts and jackboots will be there before you know it.

reply

So you DO understand that we're two different people,
Please spare us. NOBODY is buying that BS you are selling BLT. Everyone knows it's you. Just admit it and move on. You're making a complete fool of yourself.

reply

So, for the record, you are denying that you are not the same person who penned a pantload of posts on this board, on these themes and all of which mirror/support the "unique" opinion of Better Than This? And if you deny your obvious alter ego than you are a sick woman who is as inauthentic and misguided as the woman also known as Better Than This.

Very sad....

You must be so embarrassed and regretful about the content and conclusions of your mountain of previous posts submitted under your pre-deleted posts, BTT....

At least come clean. It would give you a minutiae of credibility. Denial just seals the deal regarding your mental health.

reply

The truth is still the truth, whether she's saying it or I am. Why would it change?<shrugs>

And what is SAD is that you clods sit there complacently as all dissent is slowly being stifled and crushed by the Thought Police. Sieg heil!

You'll be singing a different tune when it's YOUR opinions that are being found to be "unacceptable".

It would give you a minutiae of credibility.
"A minutiae"? Time to get out your dictionary. To start with, "minutiae" is plural. You clods are a hoot.....<laugh>

reply

[deleted]

I passionately disagreed with BTT's warped opinions and her ugly stubbornness. This behavior where she re enters uttering the same opinions in the same manner all the while denying it is the same person is both sad and sick. The pattern also robs her of any remaining credibility. Now she appears pathetic.

reply

Goodness, was that YOUR reply that was just deleted by the "administrator"?? <laughs> How does it feel? <laughs> Did you enjoy wasting all that typing, only to have it all go down the toilet?<laughs>

You'd think you'd be relieved to think she and I are not the same person. Because otherwise it means that all of everyone's bullying and harassment of her couldn't shut her up. <laughs><laughs><laughs>

reply

Denial just seals the deal regarding your mental health.
Occasionally out here, you get to have a front row seat to a mental breakdown. That's what we are seeing here. The fact she thinks she can fool ANYONE with this sock is hilarious.

Next time, put a little effort into it.

[deleted]

Wrong again. I'm getting replies from people who always said they had BTT on Ignore. Somehow THEY can see my messages -- so if you can't, there's probably just something wrong with your browser.

along with her knowing that BetterThanThis was a female (which had never been mentioned by anyone until Jeankennedy86 brought it up...hmmm)
You LIE. If you had read anybody else's messages on this board and on the OTHER boards where hypocrites like CensorshipRules have been stalking and harassing me, that should have been very clear. It was mentioned CONSTANTLY to those who had their eyes open -- which evidently wasn't you.

Now QUICKLY pull on your blindfold of Ignore-ance, though, before you accidentally learn anything by mistake. It's why most of you clods never learn ANYTHING, EVER.<shrugs>

Is it difficult to eat foods like steak and veal considering all of the sharp implements are no longer available to you?

This chick is a complete whack job. Apparently IMDB deleting all her posts on her other account pushed her over the edge. Rarely have I witnessed out here someone coming so unglued. Normally, I'd pity her. But in this case, I'll just say you reap what you sow.

reply

I put BTT on ignore after reading a lot of her posts mainly because she never had anything new to add. I'm surprised the administrator deleted them all since I never saw anything nasty or breaking board rules. She was only repetitious and boring.

reply

[deleted]

Out of the millions of posters on the internet, out of all the hundreds of thousands, if not millions of boards, doesn't it strike anyone as funny that after lurking for 2+ years, this JeaneKennedy pops out of nowhere on some quest to defend "Better than Nothing"? on the boards that nutjob used to frequent?

Look lady, nobody believes you. EVERYONE knows you two are one in the same. Please stop with this childish charade. Stop showing your ass, and just say you two are one in the same. It was funny for a New York minute, but now it's just pathetic.

reply

And here is CensorshipRules again, trolling on this board for a movie you've never cared about before? You just stalked me over here, didn't you, hoping to cause trouble.

Why in hell do you think it matters who she is and who I am? Do you think that changes the TRUTH of what she and I are saying? You're just hiding from reality, by trying to distract with irrelevance.

But I know that clods like you are just terrified to think that you went to all that trouble to get her deleted, when she could still be here! OMG, it's time to worry!
(laughs)

reply

I agree her posts were misguided and repetitive but not offensive. What I do fiind very strange is that she would use a new account and not admit her true identity. She must have posted some weird stuff on another board

reply

You mean "misguided" because you didn't agree with her -- and "repetitive" because she had to repeat things when people asked again or didn't get it the first time? Just so we're clear....

but not offensive.
Exactly. Far too many people are offended by things they don't agree with -- so idiotically, they reach for their Report button. (What's the point of living in a democracy, if only one opinion is allowed?)
What I do fiind very strange is that she would use a new account
What makes you think she's doing that? Why would it matter to you, since you agree she was not being offensive?

You may have noticed trolls coming over here who had never posted on this board before, but just came over to bully me?

Do you think it's possible that these vicious bullies managed to get her deleted, so she had no choice but to use another name?

And isn't it interesting that people who couldn't see HER can see ME? How does that work?

reply

Here's the thing Better Than This and I mean this sincerely. I fervently disagree with most of your opinions(I KNOW you and Jean Kennedy are the same person because you visit the same boards, have the same MINORITY opinion and you CANNOT refrain from responding to certain topics). In fact, what drew me to be curious enough to investigate was that I thought it was so strange for "Jane" to be so passionate about the minority opinion of yours(which you repeat like a mantra) regarding Gaby & Illya. After reading Jane's post I thought, what are the odds this woman would echo your sentiments so uniformly.

So in two minutes it was clear that you(BTT and Jane) are the same person. Of that no reasonable person would have a doubt. Which is fine by me, however when you continue to LIE about this fact it really diminishes the value and credibility of your posts via Jane. The more you deny this fact the squirrelier it makes you appear. If you're misrepresenting yourself out of fear of being suspended from this board so be it. Other than that, it is sick behavior. This will be my last post addressed to or about you because since Jane is a fictional soul her/your opinion no longer matters.

reply

I can't imagine who Jane is. Did you mean me? It's funny that you guys keep harping on the fact you think I'm "lying" about my identity, when if you can read, I've just said very clearly that it's irrelevant. What DIFFERENCE does it make?

Why do you all think it will change anything at all if you can convince yourselves and everybody else that I'm BetterThanThis? How will that help you?

SHE, of course, would be the woman who you boors bullied and hounded right off these boards, like troglodytes who just couldn't handle the idea of a strong and opinionated woman who actually had the BALLS to say what she thinks, whether you would like it or not. Imagine that! The nerve....<eyeroll> (The abuse on the Big Bang board was just disgraceful. All because they DISAGREED with her?? They really needed to get a bloody grip.)

It's just SAD that you guys found that such a THREAT TO YOU that it called for the extreme measures you all took, relentlessly ganging up to put the boots to her, day after day, week after week. At some point, you should all feel shame. IF you had any conscience at all, that is....<shrugs>

My opinions and hers are similar? Wow. Maybe that means we're both right. Otherwise, so what? You couldn't deal with one -- and if there's TWO, OMG, it's panic time!<eyeroll>

reply

Anyone who still thinks it was Gaby that Illya cared about should watch the way she waved goodbye to him, but he didn't even look at her. Not a good sign at all.....

He was on the phone when that happened so he was understandably distracted.
