The letter....

C'mon, why would the husband keep the letter?

Bring me a dream Burke, bring me a dream!

reply

Totally agree. Makes no sense. I felt worse and worse about the movie as it progressed.

reply

Because he was a selfish and narcissistic bastard.

There's a kind of freedom in being completely screwed, because you know things can't get worse.😂

The correct answer is so she can discover it.

reply

If he hadn't keep it , then Rosie couldn't have read it

reply

Stranger things have happened. Maybe he had a plan to burn it and put it in his drawer in preparation, but then forgot all about it.

reply

Well, to be honest, i understand that it was a plot device, so she could find and discover the truth...but still it was a lousy way to do so...

Maybe he kept it so that he could look at it from time to time for inspiration? To remind him that he has to be a good husband/father because his wife had another man who wanted her?

reply

Hahaha that is a funny point you have made here "movieliker1"

reply

This is a good point, I like to think that part of him, maybe a very minuscule part, knew that Alex was right and he felt guilty for "stealing" her mail. Maybe he kept the letter locked up to help him feel less guilty. I honestly don't know for sure. But for some reason this did not bother me as much as it seems to bother others.

It kind of reminds me of Allie's mom in The Notebook keeping all of Noah's letters. Why did she keep them, why didn't she just throw them away?

reply

He kept it as a trophy, power over her, something he won.

And your prize is?

In all seriousness, Greg was an absolute dickhead. He cared nothing for Rosie and his type would love a letter like this to gloat over knowing he stopped Rosie from having a real love in her life.
