Sign of bad acting.

Only been watching this for around 5 or 10 minutes, but something immediately noticed is how the camera does not linger long on Timberlake's face. Once he delivers a line of dialogue, the camera quickly cuts away, unlike with the other actors in the cast. Also includes quick, fleeting glimpses of his facial.reactions to the fellow actors' lines, but usually brief shots.

Have you seen "Inside Llewn Davis"? That might make you think twice about your theory. It might be the DP who's deciding on that.

It's the cutter/director/producer who decides this and this is indeed a technique to hide bad acting.
His acting is terrible, at least in this film.

Not only that, but the scene wherein (spoiler!) his mother dies, it shows his face quite a lot and I was very captivated by his emotional display.
