What happens if you are sentenced to 10 years? You can 10 more years added your account? Wouldn't everyone want to be locked up to live this extra time? and if you don't get extra time (and aren't allowed to make a living) then being arrested is essentially a death sentence?
shareHypothetically, the prisoner's existing time is taken from him and held in a special account. He must then work for additional time and is paid regularly, which he is then responsible for budgeting.
I imagine that prison would be another form of the economic Darwinism that was taking place in the era of the movie, and that deaths would occur quite often in such places, with prices constantly rising.
